I wasn't a girl who was obsessed with makeup from a young age. I hated the idea of getting my hair done and opted to do the bare minimum. But one day when I was 9 years old my I heard one of my aunts say " she could never do makeup, she doesn't have it in her" and that's when I knew I would change that.
I got into makeup in high school but only started to really branch out in college. I've always liked the attention and looking bold so I started to reflect that on my makeup and it began the self-love journey that leads me to where I am today.
My internet fame only emerged due to Covid and being stuck at home. I started to create Tiktoks and it took off in the best way possible. Now I have a little over 400,000 followers.
2. Why did you choose this career?
2. Why did you choose this career?
Well in reality I see it as more of a hobby/ lifestyle I really like. I am in college for HRM and Labor studies and plan to get a job in that field. But doing makeup and talking to people is what makes me happy.
3. How can one build a clientele as a make-up artist?
Social media is a great way to grow and build your platform, and when I say grow I don't mean in number because your clientele can be a lot stronger than a bunch of followers. I still also believe in word of mouth and business cards so I would say combining all of these will really help.
Put yourself everywhere, all social media platforms and Facebook groups makeup-related and non-makeup related because you never know whose watching. Building good relationships with your clients will also get you loyal clients so at some point you may not need to keep searching for more people.
