Luke Flipp - You Can't Make Everyone Laugh, But When I Start To Have Self Doubts, I Just Remind Myself I'm Indeed A Talented Twink With Some Perky Cheeks (Actor & Comedian, USA)

I like getting people to laugh at dark situations, mundane situations and obviously relatable ones too I would say the hardest part of being funny - is just being funny

1. How and when did you choose comedy as a career?

Somewhere during college I decided to do comedy when I realized I am not particularly good at anything but making people laugh came fairly easy so I just ran with it. I like being a clown. I moved to LA like a week after I graduated college and have never looked back. Mostly because I am scared of getting a real job.

2. Did you ever think or dream of being an actor?

Yes! Ever since I was young. I was born with my umbilical cord wrapped around my neck so I have essentially been performing and commanding attention since my literal birth. I came out of the womb with a BANG and have been chasing that high ever since. Also, Big Fat Liar, the movie starring Frankie Muniz and Amanda Bynes changed my life.

Those are my heroes. I remember watching it the first time in a motel room in Missouri when I was young. My family was there because my sister was graduating from Army boot camp and she was going to be heading to fight the war soon after.

The juxtaposition of the fun, family friendly movie and the lingering terror of my sister fighting in a war as I'm sitting in a rotten motel room probably drove me closer and closer to the "glamorous" life of acting without me even realizing it.

3.What type of content do you enjoy producing the most and is the most challenging?

I love making people uncomfortable. It's a rush. I like getting people to laugh at dark situations, mundane situations and obviously relatable ones too (like Shrek ejaculating on my face or drinking from my deceased mother's urn - classic comedy!) I would say the hardest part of being funny - is just being funny. It can be hard not to get in your own head about it because comedy is subjective.

You can't make everyone laugh. But when I start to have self doubts, I just remind myself I am indeed a talented twink with some perky cheeks.

4. Do you prefer digital as a medium or do you enjoy doing live gigs more and why?

Both are very enjoyable and gratifying in their own ways. Definitely less pressure posting on an app than performing in front of a crowd. But being in front of a crowd can be incredibly fueling. I am also an avid bird lover! I love crows.

5. People, who are interested in taking up stand-up comedy as a profession, do they need a funny bone or can they develop one?

I'm a believer that anyone can do anything if they want it badly enough. You want to perform brain surgery? Screw school - just follow your heart! There's an audience out there for everyone - it is just about finding your own weird voice and committing to it.

6. How stable is being a stand-up comedian as a profession ? And what is the future of this profession?

I am not sure about stability - it definitely depends from person to person. But like anything, work hard enough and you can get there! That or blow the right person at an after hours party.

7. What led you to start your page on Instagram and what is it about? Is it financially sustainable to be an influencer today?

I love attention!! My instagram is my own eccentric utopia. Like a gay fever dream that you desperately want to wake up from. And yes it is definitely financially sustainable to be hot and famous like me. I hope I can show people that being an inbred influencer doesn't hold me back - as I am incredibly wealthy. Follow your heart and it'll lead you straight to the bank.

8. What impact do you want to make in this world?

I want to be the first person to film a horror comedy movie IN space but the plot of the movie has absolutely nothing to do with space. I also want to help protect the bird community against climate change and clean windows. I am a simple guy who doesn't want much except to be remembered forever.

9. Which is your favourite book and why?

My favorite book is The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein. It is a sad tale about a tree who gives up everything for a selfish little boy which just proves children are awful. RIP to that beautiful tree.
