Vinnie Venugopal - Have a Goal and a Drive to Handle a Specific Need Within Healthcare (CIO - Telehealth Innovations)

Digital health has already grown due to the pandemic, we need to sustain the ease of use and the ability to get all of the world access to care, no matter your location or class.

Tell us about your upbringing, background, and journey?

I was born in Trivandrum, Kerala, and moved to the USA at age 2. My hard-working Indian parents raised my sister and I with family values, respect, and the ethic and understanding that hard work pays off in the long run. Always have fun but always do it in the right manner with respect to all those involved, this was the same understanding I applied to business.

My journey started with foregoing college and starting as an analyst for IBM at the age of 18. My hard work ethic promoted me to Director by the age of 21 and VP of IT of the Western Hemispheres by the age of 26. I started my own company at the age of 27 and sold it at age 43.

During those hard-working years, I created multiple apps and engaged in businesses with other strong-minded Physicians. I now have a secure and dynamic Telehealth platform that can serve the underprivileged and densely populated areas of the world.

Why did you choose the medical field and decide what you specifically want to do?

The medical field was chosen due to the cost of support given to physicians. I realized the physicians were being quoted 2x the normal rate that small businesses were paying, almost for everything.

This did not sit well with me, I often wondered, "How do the people that help save lives, decrease mortality, and care for family members be forced to pay more to run their business than a bank or consulting agency?" I decided to change that.

What goes behind running a hospital or healthcare facility?

Forward thinking, negotiating, patience, construction costs, and understanding insurance plans - are a must for any CEO of a hospital.

How do you expect digital health to grow over the next 5 years?

Digital health has already grown due to the pandemic, we need to sustain the ease of use and the ability to get all of the world access to care, no matter your location or class. This is the growth in the next 5 years, get health options to all people on Earth.

What are your concerns about Digital Health?

Security vulnerabilities and using the digital platform to push political views. This causes financial burdens to get healthy options to the dense areas of the world.

Can you let us know anyone application of Digital Health in your country which has impressed you?
