Dr. Neharika

A person who goes with the mindset to learn will learn anywhere so go with an open mind and respect your teachers.

1. Tell us about your upbringing, background and journey?

I m the fourth generation of doctors in my family.

I m from AGRA . I completed my graduation (MBBS ) from Poona and later Post graduation(MD OBGYN ) from Datta Megh University Wardha I got a  gold medal, later went to study foetal medicine from King’s Hospital, London in 2011 fellowship in reproductive medicine in 2012 from Poona and a diploma in reproductive medicine In 2018 from Germany and many online courses to upgrade my knowledge to give my best to the society.

2. Why did you choose to be a doctor and decide what you specifically want to do?

Well thinking about my choice to become a doctor, well I m the fourth generation of medicos in my family starting all the way back to my great grandfather.

Sometimes I would think of other professions, maybe an architect or something to do with arts but serving society was always in my heart. And yes  “I scored most of my marks in Biology only, and today when I hear people call me Doctor Didi(fondly called by many in AGRA ) I just feel good I chose to go down this path.”

3. How do you expect digital health to grow over the next 5 years?

Our world today is undeniably digital. New technologies – from social media and GPS systems to artificial intelligence and digital twins – make the planet we inhabit unrecognisable from even 20 years ago.

Digitalization and technology have changed the world in the past 2 years. We have seen major changes in many things but I still feel like a doctor that the human touch is always the best.

Digitization is neither good nor bad. It is. The degree to which it will have a positive or negative impact on society and the world is entirely up to the creators of new technology and the consumers of that capability.

In medicine and healthcare, digital technology could help transform unsustainable healthcare systems into sustainable ones, equalize the relationship between medical professionals and patients, provide cheaper, faster and more effective solutions for diseases. Our task at the moment is to face our fears about the future with courage; to turn to technologies with an open mind, and to prepare for the changing world with as much knowledge as possible.

4. What is your message for aspiring doctors and the young generation? Which is the best medical college according to you?

Choose a profession that will give you happiness because unless you do love what you do you won't be able to give it your best.

My favourite quote is –

The world doesn’t need successful people now, this world now needs healers, lovers, peacemakers and storytellers of all kinds

There is no best medical college – a person who goes with the mindset to learn will learn anywhere so go with an open mind and respect your teachers.

5. What does your typical day look like and what do you like to do besides work?

I love my work but I also like to balance my life with my kids and other things.

It's very important in this era to know the art of life-work balance.

It has never been easy for women to juggle a thriving career and a happy family life.
