Janelle Ginestra - Identify What You Like That Makes You Feel Good So You Don’t Become a Duplicate of Anybody Else (Choreographer From Los Angeles)

Janelle Ginestra

I started at such a young age and my mom always took me to my dance classes believed in me and pushed me in allowed me to dream big and so I did.

1. Tell us more about your background and journey.

I started dancing at the age of two years old and I have been often acting and dancing my entire life. I moved to LA when I turned 18 and pursued and focused solely on my dance career. After five years of training and doing miscellaneous jobs I booked my first world tour with pink, and I feel like that changed my life.

I am now focused on becoming an authentic and inspirational choreographer and also fitness enthusiast with my brand Naughty Girl Fitness.

2. When did you first decide you wanted to pursue dancing and how did you start?

I started at such a young age and my mom always took me to my dance classes believed in me and pushed me in allowed me to dream big and so I did.

3. Who is your favourite dancer and why?

Myself. Because I can feel myself and see myself in the most open vulnerable and freeway.

4. Can you throw some light on opportunities one gets as a dancer?

So many things that could happen. Tv shows, commercials, movies, touring the world, music videos, Broadway shows, events, etc…

5. Is format training required or can one train themselves purely on the basis of talent?

I think that you should be open to training and taking from multiple teachers and styles. I do believe a lot of things are gained by self-training and freestyling and however, you grow up in the environment that you learn your dance skills from but I definitely think you should be open to multiple ways of learning.

6. What piece of advice would you like to give to future and aspiring artists?

To identify what you like that makes you feel good so you don’t become a duplicate of anybody else and try to fit in if you’re not meant to.

7. Which is your favorite book and why?

Untamed by Glennon Doyle. Because she’s unbelievably real and raw and gives it to your straight.
