It is very sustainable to be a digital creator. People think that you need a lot of followers to earn through Instagram but it’s just a myth. I earned 500 bucks on my first paid collab that too when I only had 2000 followers.
1. Tell us about your background and journey.
I was born and brought up in Varanasi. When I turned 16, I had to move out to continue my education in a more disciplined environment. I always had my own taste in fashion for as far as I can remember. It was something that made me happy. While searching for something that would help me pursue my passion, I came across blogging.
To know more about it I started following bloggers and started to learn about their journey. That helped me a lot. I absolutely loved what they did and at that moment it hit me that I too wanted to do something like that.
2. What led you to start your Instagram page and what is it about?
After my decision to become a content creator my only dilemma was how and when to start. Between my studies and family, it kind of became a secondary thing. It always takes more power and determination to start something and when it comes in motion things usually get easier.
But then a pandemic happened and college and everything was closed so I got a lot of spare time. I thought to myself it's better to use this time rather than waste it and from there I started content creation at the starting of 2020. I started clicking pictures and uploading them on Instagram.
Then after 2 months, Instagram introduced reels and it gave me the idea of making fashion reels. I started making reels the day it was launched. Today after one year, I have made 100 reels and reached almost 10k followers from 1000 followers. My page is about fashion and lifestyle. If you are in doubt that what to wear or are confused about what cloth or accessories go with what, then you should follow me.
3. Is it financially sustainable to be a digital creator these days?
Yes, it is very sustainable to be a digital creator. People think that you need a lot of followers to earn through Instagram but it’s just a myth. I earned 500 bucks on my first paid collab that too when I only had 2000 followers.
There are so many content creators who earn full time by only this and don't have a lot of followers. Instagram keeps on launching a new feature for creators to earn through their app and in the future there will be many more opportunities. Ultimately what matters is you earn by doing the thing you love the most. If you are passionate about what you do then you will have much more utility.
4. How can someone become a successful content creator?
Firstly you have to find your niche, then you should optimize your profile according to that. If you want great brand collaboration you should have your media kit ready. Other than this be very consistent. Hard work and creativity is key to success in this field. Find out what your followers want to see and create that in your own unique way.
5. How and where do you find inspiration to churn out content?
I have reserved one of the corners of my mind to think about content so whenever I am awake it subconsciously keeps on thinking about new ideas. Other than that Pinterest and other creators are great sources of inspiration. When I don't have any ideas, I just open my wardrobe and see what I can create with all these clothes and ideas turn up.
6. Who is your favorite creator and why?
There are so many creators whom I love and but Diipa Buller Khosla is someone I admire, she is an inspiration to many. She is so true to her roots and her content is very raw and real. She is also very down-to-earth. Recently, she was blessed with a baby and after just 2 months, she went to Cannes and killed it on the red carpet. She balances her work and personal life very well.
