You should have a ‘Hatke- factor’, something which makes you different from others, something that makes your followers love you
1. Tell us about your background and journey.
As a child, I was always a frontbencher in school, quiet, introverted, least argumentative, with no constant friends, and never failing to submit my homework and projects on time.
Around the age of 13, I realised I love being in front of the camera, be it taking crazy selfies or over dramatically lip-syncing to fav Bollywood songs! I remember being a drama queen from a very little age, my mom used to make me study at the age of 6 and for breaks, I used to run to my dad who used to record my fun dancing and acting videos on his phone.
2. What led you to start your blog and what is it about?
When Instagram introduced reels, I was quite fascinated yet in two minds, whether to try it or not. I feared being ridiculed and stereotypically being questioned by my friends and followers, yet I gathered all the courage and gave it a shot, fortunately, the response I received was quite overwhelming.
I create funny, comic and relatable reels to which an individual from any background can relate, I also have adapted the character of Shinchan with my own twist- calling it Nishchan, besides I also like trying makeup and shooting some slow mos (fulfilling the epic Bollywood movie dream!) The glam side of mine is known as ‘Nismua’
3. Is it financially sustainable to be a digital creator these days?
It takes a lot of hard work, creativity and consistency to achieve a level of complete financial sustainability as a content creator, it completely depends on the creators engagement and organic growth. Financial sustainability comes with a lot of time and patience.
4. How can someone become a successful content creator?
Content creation is definitely not as easy and one assumes, each and every video portrays a different story. An out-of-the-box concept takes days of brainstorming.
Consistency plays a big role in achieving excellence. Also, you should have a ‘Hatke- factor’, something which makes you different from others, something that makes your followers love you. Also, engage with your audience and let them know that you adore them and the way they support you.
5. How and where do you find inspiration to churn out content?
If you look closely everything around you seems meme-worthy. Most of my content is based on my own life incidents and the rest creatively built up in my mind while hearing a song! Sometimes I like sarcastically breaking trends my own way by adding a desi concept to them.
Whenever I think of a content piece, I quickly go and type into a WhatsApp group which consists of only me or send a voice recording of the concept on it. If anyone catches me doing this, they think of me as a crackpot which is alright as long as I have a good idea intact for my next reel.
6. Who is your favourite creator and why?
I really look up to creators who never fail to surprise me with their content, they carry the WOW factor with them. Each time I watch their video, I go ‘wow, I could have never thought this way’ something which is very unexpected, something I didn’t see coming, from makeup artists to viners.
There are many creators which I adore, and love for their wholesome content, some of them being my friends. I wouldn’t want to name anyone. Determination and originality is what makes me more inclined towards them.
7. Which is your favourite book and why?
Please don’t hate me for saying this, but I haven’t read too many books. As a child I was always found reading books in the washroom but then my hobbies escalated to another dimension.
I always loved reading comics, the favourite one being Tinkle, the characters like Supandi always lit up my mood.
Other favourite books included Enid Blyton’s Malory Towers, Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the chocolate factory along with Matilda. I was also fond of the Pink and Black series.
