Go for it! Don't stop just because people are saying things. Don't care about the numbers. Keep hustling and give your 100% to each and every content that you create. Don't push yourself too hard that it affects your mental health.
1. Tell us about your background and journey.
Hey, I am Palak Kothari. I am a fashion influencer based out of Bangalore. I am from Rajasthan and I am pursuing Public Space Design in Bangalore. I have been creating content on Instagram for three years now.
2. What led you to start your page on Instagram?
So when I was in 12th standard, Kritika Khurana (thatbohogirl) came to Jaipur and she had organised a fan meet up. I wasn't really interested in that but a few of my friends went to meet her.
After that, I didn't stop hearing about how good it was and eventually, I checked her work out and I totally fell in love with what she was doing. That was my trigger point and I had made up my mind that I am also going to do this. I have always been very fascinated with the life of celebrities and that sparked me to do what I am doing now.
3. Do you think that there will be a new style statement or fashion obsession with the new normal? If so what would be your choice and why?
I think that this pandemic made everyone more active on social media and then the introduction of reels just changed everyone's life. We all consume so much content and it impacts our lives in very minor but important ways.
This new normal has helped trends go viral and so many people are out there coming up with new fashion ideas every single day and people are influenced so deeply that they do try them out. My favourite fashion obsession would definitely be gender-fluid fashion.
I am personally obsessed with menswear and I keep experimenting with my dad's clothes. I also am in love with all the vintage fashion looks people are curating.
4. Is it financially sustainable to be a fashion blogger today?
Initially, you do need to invest in a lot of things to start what you have in your mind but I feel that your talent is what makes you stand out and once you have made an impact with your presence, things are relatively easier and those investments, in the beginning, start bearing fruits.
5. What is your idea of success or your mantra in life?
Surround yourself with supportive and positive minds.
You'll find a lot of people saying things about what you do, mock you because apparently anyone can do this but you don't let them win in making you go down.
You stand your ground and let your hard work and success speak to them.
6. Who is your favourite fashion blogger and why?
I have two favourites. One is of course, Kritika Khurana. I really like the energy she carries with herself. She is a very positive person and I aspire to be like that. Second is Komal Pandey.
I admire her for the efforts she puts into her work. Every single video of hers is a piece of art and she is actually trying to make a difference in how people think. I would love the opportunity to make a video with her.
7. Do you have any tips for people who want to join this field?
Go for it! Don't stop just because people are saying things. Don't care about the numbers. Keep hustling and give your 100% to each and every content that you create. Don't push yourself too hard that it affects your mental health.
I promise you that you will definitely see the results if you are doing it with all your heart.
