It is a failed sitcom at its worst. Most sitcoms we watch come from Asian countries - mainly the east - some of which are with a single camera and no laugh track. Although this one tried to bend a little away from the traditional it did not capture the heart of its viewers as much as its trailer depicted.

Synopsis
‘So Not Worth It’ revolves around the story of college students in an international dorm, as they make new friends, gain new experiences, and find new loves. It is Netflix’s first Korean Sitcom which premiered in June 2021.
Why You Should Skip It
The sitcom is formatted to look like a young-adult American sitcom and not a family sitcom due to its themes, language and setting but in the process of portraying it that it lacked the basic humor required for sitcoms to make their viewers enjoy the show and laugh at their hearts out.
Although there’s a laugh track, the jokes aren’t funny, not to mention the characters. While they are unique they also lack the humor quality and for individuals who in fact enjoy sitcoms, the most will find this very disappointing.
There are various instances in the episodes when you will realize the characters aren’t appealing enough not because of international students speaking Korean in fact their Korean is only what is apt in the complete drama.
For instance, a newly admitted international student Jamie who has never worked part-time jobs in his life is made to work various similar jobs, he acts as a fickle man with no strength repeating the same mistake.
I am not saying a man should have the strength and the skillset always to do heavy or light jobs but the humorous way they tried to portray his incapability was just stupid. Another instance is Carson’s rage when she sees her umbrella missing, to which Hans reacts frightenedly, again trying to be humorous using greasy dialogues made me want to skip the entire scenario.
With the hope of getting your hands on some incentive to watch you will be investing your time on an immensely unimpressive sitcom. The sitcom tries to make full efforts to portray its characters more than goofy stereotypes but its lame, boring jokes and not-so-great performances by its actors who are known for their performances better in other dramas is disheartening.
The script, storylines of various characters, and the whole concept of chaos in the international dorm is a complete failure in itself. The character and relationship developments are vague with an improper flow.
The complete show is also slow-paced though the characters displayed fair chemistry. I believe there could have been better plot introductions to make the drama alluring and exciting to watch - it is the first Korean sitcom by Netflix.
For these reasons, I ended up leaving the show midway without expectations or wanting a season 2. A series so incredibly boring does not deserve our time, there are many better sitcoms to watch for entertainment.
Even if you decide to watch this series I would recommend you to not have high expectations and the only reason why I saw its first 8 episodes was to support Minnie and Youngjae’s work, they being artists from my favorite bands that I enjoy listening to and for the fact that this was their first work in the Korean drama industry.
I believe they deserved a better series to act in as their first work and I still would recommend you to not watch this series.
The Bottom Line
If you want to laugh by watching something funny, I’d say standup comedy episodes on repeat would be a better choice because watching them again still may make you laugh than watching a rotten show pretending to be humorous with all the overacting and unnecessary drama that went wrong.
Furthermore, the title is only what does justice to the sitcom, and just as it says this series is really “so not worth it!”.
My ratings for the sitcom - 1 on 5
You may watch it on - Netflix
