1. Tell us about your background and your journey so far?

I am 19, born and brought up in Jaipur. I started with shooting in 2015 at Jagatpura Sports Complex in Jaipur and initially tried both shooting and archery. I enjoyed shooting more.

This was after I met with a car accident and suffered spinal cord injuries. I was inspired by Indian shooter Abhinav Bindra. Apart from shooting, I like listening to music, watching films, cooking, baking and spending time with my family.

2. How did you decide to make your passion your career? Was your family supportive?

Yes, my father encouraged me to get involved in a sport after my injury in 2012. I won several national & international titles and became the first Indian women to win a gold medal in Paralympics.

3. Who is your favorite player and what have you learnt from him?

My favorite player is Abhinav Bindra and I learnt that “Practice is a Talent, Perseverance is a Talent, Hardwork is a Talent.”

4. What is the level of commitment and time required to make this sport a career?

I think the level of commitment to make sports a career, you have to be very very clear about your goals and your commitments. Like if you wish to pursue shooting or any other sport as a career you know that the world is not going to be easy and there will be ups and downs.

You have to find out the different ways to overcome all these odds and keep going.

5. Which is your favorite book and why?

‘A Shot at History’ by Abhinav Bindra is my favorite book. In this book, Abhinav Bindra tells that only hunger for success and inner desire helps anyone to achieve his or her dreams.
