Web Series Review: Lucifer: Every Detail You Need to Know

Pic Credits: Collider

I would describe my sense of humour as fifty shades of darker than yours

Introduction

Genre- Fantasy drama

Language- English

It’s been a hell of a ride(no pun intended), watching this one flying straight from hell into the most happening cities of the world. There aren’t any hiccups about this anyway, for the lord of hell is all set to burn down Los Angeles hot!

Cast

Tom Ellis/ Lucifer Morningstar- The devilish hero of the story has been appraised time and time again for his quirky acting and immaculate expressions. His confidence in each season is at par, while his funny comments are to die for.

Laura German/Chloe Decker- This one is a mix of good and bad.  She’s a bad girl gone bad. Being all in the past though, she is now a single mommy chased by Lucifer, for he couldn’t keep a finger around what he felt for her.

Kevin Alejandro/Detective Daniel "Dan" Espinoza- I ain’t a fan of Dan, his character didn’t appeal to me, but I won’t say that the series could have survived without him. His banter with Lucifer is the funniest. By being full of hatred initially and progressed to a bittersweet caring friendship towards the end.

D.B.Woodside/Amenadiel- He is Lucifer’s angel brother who’s been a significant part of the show, with his intensity and humour doing they talking all the time.

Lesely Ann/ Mazikeen: She is my personal favourite, and I am in awe of her acting. Would really wanna see more of her. She is a badass bitch with cruel tricks, but a heart of an innocent little girl yearning for a soul. That’s why her bond with Trixie(Dan and Chloe’s daughter) is adorable

Scarlett/Estevez/Beatrice "Trixie"- She is the daughter of Dan and Chloe is the cutest thing about the show. She has a vibrant personality, who gets lonely a lot of times due to her parents' busy routine. However, her scenes with Lucifer are hilarious.

Elevator Pitch

It’s like hell actually to pack this supernatural thrill ride in a box appears when it’s scattered all over the place. But to cut a long story short, Lucifer is an intense story of a fallen angel who’s decided to take a sabbatical from his duties of hell, to oblige earth with his charming tomfoolery(which is only more lovable).

However, even he can’t help but recoil when a murder awakens something in his soul, next to compassion or perhaps guilt, that he inadvertently joins forces with Chloe Decker a homicide detective, to go on to solve a string of murder cases together.

A thing to notice with utmost fascination is the striking spark between Chloe and Lucifer is unnerving for our guy Lucifer. He’s so taken aback by seeing her that he must have met her before. He even asks her, “Are you sure we haven’t met? I could swear I’ve seen you naked. Have we had sex?

Angels and Demons: A Beautiful Crossover

Well, there is a reason why the show has been named after Lucifer. He has a charismatic aura around him and not just for the sake of it. He draws attention anyhow. His killer looks, divine personality and hilarious dialogues. I mean kudos to the writer.

But apart from him, the whole show runs around supernatural beings of the universe. There have been numerous tales about cosmic powers and mythological tales. Adam and Eve, Lucifer being the top of that. And even if to some this may seem absurd. But why lose a chance to visit their world through this riveting series.

Lucifer Morningstar, the lord of hell who abdicated his throne and came back to earth, to have an interesting life. Well, we all have heard about Lucifer a ton of times, but how many times did we crush upon him or rather enjoy his witty humour. We haven’t but we can.

Because this series is not only about its titular character his looks and his girlfriends(that he beds all the time), it's also about the concept of hell and heaven, angel and demons, cosmic forces, entertaining characters and deep connection between our protagonist and his angel(Lucifer and Choloe).

Along with daily murder cases to solve with Detective Decker and her ex-husband Dan alongside Lucifer, who nobody really approves of due to his strange antics and coquettish comments, a couple of other interesting things abound. For example : Lucifer’s angel brother Amanedial is a handsome dark guy who unlike Lucifer is a kind man.

Always righting his brother’s wrong and coming after him to keep a check on him. There’s Mazikeen Lucifer’s partner from hell and Amanadial fuck buddy is one of the hottest and sassy characters, who plays a bartender in Lucifer’s luxurious club in LA.

Seasons and Episodes

The series premiered on January 25th 2016 and concluded on 10th September 2021, with six seasons. The story is based on the DC comics, invented by Neil Gaiman, Sam Kieth, and Mike Dringenberg adapted from the comic series The Sandman, produced by Jerry Bruckheimer Television, DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. Television.

With six seasons in its pocket, the show has been binge-worthy. Mainly because it entangles multiple things together in a systematic manner without making the plot cliche.

Getting mixed reviews in the first season but high viewership in subsequent others. After having Netflix relaunch the show when it got cancelled by Fox by three seasons, the show picked up high momentum.

Bottom Line

The show circulates around my favourite concept of ‘Hell & Heaven’. Always been fascinated and got just the right story to revel in.  What was the cherry on the top was just the right intersection between humans, demons and angels.

My Ratings for the series : 4 on 5
