Is Hinduism a Religion or a Way of Life?

Life should be productive to the fullest and connected to the eternally supreme soul. There are so many ways out that are made simply to serve the same purpose.

Specifying religion with certain restrictions does not make it relevant and purposeful. Not only Hinduism but every religion is a medium to reach the entirety. But today people comprehend restriction from religion rather it is about emancipation from all sorts of restrictions.

Hinduism - a way of living life that helps to release the soul from all cyclic rounds of possession and life and pushes the productivity of human life at its peak.

Origin

The origin of anything is what defines it. Despite being the oldest religion it hasn’t lost its relevance even today. Its origin is quite unclear as there are many logical theories that have different approaches to look for its original origin. Most of the scholars believe that it got started between 2300 B.C. and 1500 B.C. Indus Valley.

The word ‘Hindu’ is an exonym that is derived from the Sanskrit language word ‘Sindu’ which means a large body of water. As Persians pronounce ‘h’ instead of ‘s’ so it became Hindu from Sindu.

Unlike many other religions, the foundation of Hinduism was not led by a single person as it is not only to a single book of principles and norms which are to be followed by people. But much more than that as it has originated from various thoughts and personalities which makes it inclusive.

Scientific Relevance

Along with the world’s oldest religion, it is also the world's most scientific religion. Just for their own sake, some people molded the religion as per their convenience. Casteism, Sati Pratha, Plight of women, counterfeit worship, and many more tried to make it shallow through malicious means.

But fortunately, these things were not able to eliminate the essence. There were and are people who tried hard to maintain. It is not a senseless religion but people took time to actually understand its scientific relevance which astonishingly described way back when it started its existence.

The lifestyle it endorses is found to be the most appropriate and scientific that adds more zeal and productivity to life. It has logistically explained different aspects of life like spiritual, sexual, energic, mental, and others also.

Vegetarianism and Yoga are the two most scientifically accepted norms brought by Hinduism. Not only that but there are so many other complicated theories related to space and other supernatural powers that it explains well. One of the known and accepted examples is that of the distance between Earth and the Sun which is clearly written in the sacred tale ‘Hanuman Chalisa’.

  1. Inflexible and Unbearable: Many religions today have lost their original essence have also changed the nature and principles of the religion. The same happened to Hinduism too and even still happens but people should not confuse this non-religious character with its originality. Hinduism never coaxed anyone to follow its teachings nor is it unbearable in any aspect.

  1. Superstitions: There are so many people that instantly relate Hinduism with black magic or any sort of superstition. The thing is what we don’t understand we call it senseless or absurd. There are many scientific reasons that are related to the aroma, energies, spiritualities, etc, which makes all these so-called superstitions ‘sensible’.

  1. Favoritism: To justify the unjust system of segregation i.e. caste system a group of people developed several theories regarding god’s favorite child. All of these theories are a yield of a sly brain to make others inferior. This religion is about how a person should reach their own heights of productivity and can be emancipated from the cycle of life. This is not about favoritism or favoritism.  Everybody is differently equal!

The Bottom Line

Religion is nothing but a better way of living life. Making it more complex and a reason to hate others is absolutely against its teachings. Becoming fanatics is what increases tensions and conflicts in the society that hinders its progress too. So it's better to be a cosmopolitan - one who respects and greets other religions too, on their special occasions and otherwise also.

Hinduism is one such religion that never coaxes you to follow it. But still, it allures many people and they start following it because of its placid, liberated and sanguine nature.
