India has a variety of people possessing a variety of talents. India has showcased its talent to the world a lot of times in a lot of ways. Be it sports, fashion, music, or film making, India is nowhere behind any other country in the world. In fact not many times but some times India has been appreciated at the international platforms as well.

Oscar is one such event which recognised the talent India has and appreciated it by awarding it with one of the biggest awards in the field of entertainment.

Why is an Oscar Given Such an Importance?

Like people say, importance is not earned without any cause. There is an obvious reason behind such importance given to the Oscars. Only one person in the world is awarded with it every year in each category. Being chosen as the best in the entire world is not less than a dream or an achievement for the artist.

Hence, the Oscar or Academy Award is considered so prestigious.

Indians Getting Nomination in The Oscars

Imagine the number of movies being released every year in different languages all over the world. But all these movies don’t get the chance to be in the race for Oscar. The movie which gets a nomination is certainly iconic.

India has always been famous for its film making. In 1958, Mother India became the first Indian film to be nominated for the Oscar. Apart from that, Some famous movies like Gandhi, Salaam Bombay!, Lagaan, Slumdog Millionaire, Life of Pi got the nomination for the Academy Award in different categories.

Indians Who Won the Oscar Award

Being a part of a race is important but having the capability to win the race is more important. All who got nominations didn’t win the award. Only a few of them did.
