Synopsis – Spoiler Alert!
The book is set in two parts. Part 1 shows how Travis and Gabby meet and the whole process of them falling in love. Whereas part 2 narrates a story where tragedy has struck and the choices that Travis has to make. Travis Parker and Gabby Holland embark on a fascinating adventure as neighbours. Travis Parker is a contented man with fantastic friends, a rewarding job, and an incredible lifestyle.
Gabby Holland arrives at the house next door, and he thinks his life is already full of joy and happiness. What emerges is a moving and inspirational love saga. It's a narrative about overcoming obstacles in order to be with those you care about. It's about true, strong romantic love, trust, and strength, as well as the fact that all choice is a cheap illusion.
Gabby gets involved in an accident and is taken to the hospital, where she remains comatose. Travis pays her a visit. Doctors believe she will most likely never wake up. Travis must decide whether to remove Gabby from life support or to place her in long-term care, knowing that she may never wake up. He decides to take a gamble and place her in a long-term care facility. Gabby awakens from her coma three months later and returns to their home.

About the Book
For the book, The Choice, Nicholas sparks tried to parallel and not copy the obstacles from his previous works. He opted to give Gabby a serious boyfriend in The Choice, one she thought she'd marry; in the final section, Gabby was in a coma, and Travis wasn't sure whether she'd ever wake up.
As said before parallels. Close enough to feel familiar on the surface, but distinct enough to feel wholly original. And, despite the fact that Nicholas sparks had just laid out all concepts behind the novel in a few preceding phrases, it took him months to actually come up with the story's fundamental drive.
But it's always the same: once a concept is communicated, it becomes self-evident. However, coming up with the idea in the first place can be a long and frustrating process.
Self Analysis
Travis was a great character. He appeared to be really pleasant and unconcerned. I got the impression that he was a guy who appreciated the finer things in life, particularly when it came to ladies. He wants to settle down someday, but he hasn't found a woman who truly makes him feel special when it comes to love.
Gabby seemed to be doing fine. I found it difficult to like her. She seemed a little whiney to me. I believe I understand the author's intent with this character, yet she irritated me. I noticed that I was rolling my eyes a lot.
Famous Quotes
“He often felt that too many people lived their lives acting and pretending, wearing masks and losing themselves in the process.”
“How far would you go to keep the hope of love alive?”
“Love is a wonderful thing. It makes life worthwhile. I love being in love.”
The Bottom Line
I enjoyed the twists and turns in the plot as well as the decisions that had to be made throughout the novel, both before and after Gabby and Travis's ultimate relationship. After that, it was extremely sweet.
This was a fantastic storey. Despite my reservations about Gabby being in a relationship at the time she married Travis. It was fascinating to observe how Sparks constructed the plot to reach its climactic conclusion.
My ratings for the book - 3 on 5
