Indian Olympics 2020: We Are Proud of Indian Players

 


The Tokyo Olympics 2020 was held in 2021 because the covid pandemic had been postponed for one year. After one year it was organized and our Indian players participated in this tournament.


India has got a total of 7 medals in the Olympics for which India has got their first gold medal in athletics by Neeraj Chopra in Javelin Throw. 2 silver medals in Wrestling and one silver medal in weightlifting.


After 40 years India got a medal in Hockey, the team won the bronze medal, and also we got a bronze medal in Badminton and in Boxing. Overall the players had done great work in their sporting event by making India proud.


Mirabai Chanu and PV Sindhu won Silver and Bronze medals 


India got its first medal in Tokyo Olympics through Mirabai Chanu in weightlifting. She got the medal in the 49 kg category. After that, she had been become proud of India by achieving a silver medal. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had also congratulated Mirabai Chanu for her achievement in Tokyo Olympics.


After that, a series of winning medals in the Olympics was going for India. PV Sindhu has won the bronze medal in Badminton. It was her second medal in Olympics, She had also won a silver medal in Rio Olympics 2016.


Indian Hockey team wins medal after 40 years in Olympics


There was a time when Hockey is the most popular game in India and in every Olympics we came to know that India has a medal in Hockey. But after 1980 the Indian team has not won a medal in Olympics.


In Tokyo Olympics, the Indian team won the bronze medal by defeating the team of Germany. It was a proud moment for India because after 40 years the team won a medal in the Olympics.


And also Lovlina Borgohain had won a bronze medal in boxing at the Tokyo 2020 in the women’s welterweight event, becoming the only third Indian boxer to win a medal at the Olympics. She won a bronze medal at the AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships in 2018 and 2019.



Ravi Dahiya and Bajrang Punia has made India proud


In wrestling, India got 2 medals. One is a bronze medal by Bajrang Punia and another one is a silver medal by Ravi Dahiya. Bajrang Punia got the medal in the 65 kg weight country by defeating Azerbaijan wrestler Haji Aliyev. Punia has won three medals at the World Wrestling Championships.


Ravi Dahiya has won a silver medal in wrestling in the 57 kg category. He has gone into the wrestling finals but he was defeated by Russian wrestler Zavur Uguev. After Sushil Kumar, Ravi Dahiya is the second wrestler to win a silver medal in Olympics. He is also a bronze medalist in the 2019 World Wrestling Championships. Both players belong to Haryana which is known for its home ground of Sports.



And Finally, India got its gold medal from Neeraj Chopra


At the time, Indian players had won 6 medals in various sporting events, and the last sport left for India in athletics. In Javelin Throw Neeraj Chopra is representing India but nobody thought that Neeraj won the first gold medal for India in athletics. When the news came out that Neeraj has won the gold medal there is a proud moment for India and everyone is celebrating Neeraj's victory.


He has won the gold medal in Javelin Throw and he threw the longest Javelin at approx 88 meters. Prime Minister Modi had also congratulated Neeraj and those players who won medals in the Tokyo Olympics.


Neeraj Chopra had received many prizes from Governments and other companies like BYJU’s had given him a cash prize of 2 crores. Haryana government give him a cash prize of 6 crores. Neeraj Chopra also served in the Indian Army at the rank of Subedar. 


He has also received many awards like Padma Shri and the biggest award in the field of sports, the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award and Arjuna Award for Athletics. His Javelin which he used in Tokyo Olympics has sold for 1.5 crores.


PM Narendra Modi has met the players who participated in the Toyko Olympics. He motivated those players who would not win medals for India and he said to those players that they participated in Olympics which is a big thing because it is the world's biggest sports event. He has given good wishes to all players to do their best in the next Olympics also.
