Is Robotics Really a Good Career? Qualification, Requirements and Scope of Robotics in India

Do machines, computers, and robots make you excited? Are you also someone who has some extra interest in the virtual world compared to the real world? Well, if yes, you can convert this interest into a career.

Robotics as a Career

Well, we all are aware of how the world is continuously moving toward newer generations of computers and the internet. On the same path, lies robotics. Robotics is not a new field for us.

Robotics is not just a small area of work. It has a very larger area of functioning. It has scope for everyone. It gives us the opportunity to fulfil our interest in working with robots. Other than that, it can also provide additional benefits like a high salary, recognition etc.

What Are the Career Options?

In the field of robotics, one can choose a career out of a lot depending upon his/her area of interest. Here are a few career options you can pursue with a degree in robotics.

  1. Robotics Engineer

As the name suggests, they are the people who are associated with designing, functioning and testing robots. In many companies, they work with scientists and innovators to design robots. Their work mainly relies on computer-aided software.

  1. Design Engineer

Their main responsibility is to look after the appearance of the robot. They often work with the team which is involved in designing so that they can see whether the design is practically achievable or not.

They are the people who have knowledge and qualification in designing software and are also good at sketching.

  1. Software and Hardware Engineer

They are responsible for major work involved in the development of a robot. Software engineers work over the functioning of the robots while the hardware engineers conduct research, and develop and test the physical components of the robot.

  1. Electromechanical Technician

Their work includes using mechanics, electronics and electronic technology to test, and operate repair drones, robots and other automated machines.

  1. Aerospace Engineer

This robotic technique is also used in flight systems, sensors, drones and other automated aerial vehicles. So, these aerospace engineers are involved in the development and functioning of such things.

  1. Computer Scientist

They are the people behind the automation of robots. They work behind the computers and work over data science, computer languages, programming, language processing and neural networks, in short, they inculcate the decision-making in these automated systems.

  1. User Interface Designer

They are the ones because of whom we, the people are able to communicate with the automated machines. They design the medium which allows a user to communicate with the robot.

Which Are the Top Companies That Offer Jobs in Robotics?

Well, robotics is an emerging field and hence there are many companies nowadays which has started working in the robotics department and hence, they offer jobs to the robotic-enthusiasts.

Robotic engineers are hired by tech companies like Amazon, Google and Apple. If you are experienced, you can even work in space exploration and navigation systems with NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration).

Autonomous vehicle manufacturing companies, defence manufacturing firms, healthcare, transportation and even food industries are nowadays reliant on someone who is well qualified in the functioning of automated systems.

What Should You Study to Get into Robotics?

In India, many prestigious institutes including IITs (Indian Institute of Technology) offer degree courses in robotics. Some of the most preferred courses are Robotic Engineering, Robotics and Automation, Intelligent System and Robotics etc.

What Should Be Your First Step Towards Robotics as a Beginner?

If you are yet to get enrolled in some graduation courses, but you are an enthusiast about learning the concepts of Robotics, you can get yourself enrolled in several online and offline courses. There are many courses made available by Coursera, Udemy etc. Some of them are free while some are not.

You can learn an introduction to robotics, computational neuroscience, programming languages like Python and HTML, Arduino robots etc.

Are Robotics Jobs in Demand?

Of course Yes, Robotics and Artificial Intelligence is a new and emerging field of technology, which is in high demand among all industries. Not just among the industries but among students also, robotics is quite a cool kind of thing for now.

How is Robotics Seen Among Indians?

Well, Robotics is kind of highly accepted field of education and work. Many institutes are providing the best education in robotics. Many huge companies are hiring people from the robotics background.

What is the Expected Future of Robotics in India?

Robotics is a field of science and technology which is not just popular but highly appreciable in India. Many companies are hiring people in the robotics sector giving them high salaries.

Hence, we can say that robotics has a promising future ahead. So, if you are interested in pursuing robotics but are hesitant to do or not to do it, I think You should. Because, if you give up on it although being interested, you will regret it later.
