The casting of the characters is well done and Melora Hardin as Jacqueline Carlyle stands out; her role in the show is such a divergence from her role in The Office that it only highlights how remarkable an actor she is. The show traces the fictional California Bureau of Investigation and its gifted "consultant" Patrick Jane – a reformed cod-psychic conman.
The show's intricate narrative keeps you engaged and the plot is funny yet thoughtful. Simon Baker, who plays the protagonist- Patrick, aces the role. The character is so interesting that you get over-involved with him and to a point that one wants him to be the best even when he is wrong. The supporting characters are also very well cast.
