I started writing content for my book in 2017 and it was published as a book on 10th June 2018. I had broad idea about the principles and strategies required for success in the direct selling business and started compiling them in the form of a book. It took me almost one year of writing and then 10 rounds of series editing to give it the form of a book.
1. 1. Tell us about your
journey.
I was born and brought up in the small villages of Haryana. My mother was a government teacher and my father was a pharmacist in a government dispensary in a small village. My schooling happened in various state-run Hindi medium schools in different parts of Haryana. Did my B.Com from Sirsa, Haryana, and came to Delhi to prepare for CAT exam.
Did my Post graduate program in
Management from TAPMI, Manipal. Got my first job in TVS Motor Company and work
day and night in different states of India at different profiles. At the age of
25, I was one of the youngest Regional Managers handing sales and operations
for Chandigarh, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, and J&K.
In 2007, started building Direct Selling business part-time with my job. Gained some confidence and started building the business full-time. Worked really hard day & night and created several new records in the company. Built an ever-growing business empire in entire India with lakhs of associates. In the process of developing business, I also worked extensively on improving my selling, leadership, team-management, public speaking, time-management, effective training, and people skills.
10th June 2018, started my training and consulting business to pass on everything I had learned in past 15 years to budding entrepreneurs and to everyone who wanted to be successful. Nobody has ever done any business in last many generations in my family and I had made many mistakes in the process of developing my business. I wanted to make success easier and faster for people by providing them right education, skills, and tools through my training and consultations.
Wrote my first book that gradually started picking up in sales and rose to bestseller charts. I realized many people were not into book reading, so started my YouTube channel to pass on my knowledge. January 2019, I did my first live training event in Delhi which was a huge success. One thing led to another and I continued creating content, books, training, and tools to make success easier and faster for people.
As on July 2022, I have 3 books translated in 8 languages and all 3
are in the bestseller charts on amazon. We have a social media following of 1
million plus people from 150 plus countries. People from 50 different countries
have been benefitted from my online courses and live events. Last edition of my
famous live event happened in Delhi in Talkatora stadium on 11-12-13 March
2022. We delivered 3 days of deep immersive total personal and business
transformation training to 2000 people from 6 countries.
I have been awarded as Best Direct Selling Trainer of the year, best Entrepreneurship trainer and coach, and many more awards. I have been a Josh Talks and TEDx speaker also. With all this behind me, it feels like I am just starting. So much more to do and millions of people to be impacted across the globe.
2. 2. What is your biggest
challenge ?
The bigger the dream, the higher will be the level of the
challenges. That’s natural. I am someone who keeps on growing and evolving.
Finding right people who share this same value becomes tough. Getting right
people on the team and retaining them is a challenge.
3. When did you realize you wanted to write the book?
After working for 14-15 years in the field, I had established a set of rules, principles, and guidelines that have given me excellent results. I had tried those ideas and strategies with thousands of my associates and they also got excellent results by applying the same. the size of my audience was increasing and reaching out personally to everyone through live events was tough so I decided to put it all together in the form of a book.
I approached
many publishers but nobody was ready to give me a chance. So I put up my own
money and self-published my book. Later on, I got one of the best publishers
and my books have become essential textbooks for the industry and are rated as
one of the most read and most recommended books in the industry.
4. What is direct selling and how do you teach this
skill?
Direct selling is a form of distribution wherein product reaches from manufacturer to consumers through a set of consumers who choose to become direct sellers. Started in USA in 1940s, this form of business distribution is very popular across the globe and has been growing consistently for past several decades.
My company and I are one point solution for anything and everything any direct seller needs in the world. We provide the best of the books, free training videos, e-books, online courses, live events, customized training programs, and consultancy for direct selling companies and direct sellers.
5. When did you first decide that you wanted to
create content and how did you start?
I started writing content for my book in 2017 and it was published as a book on 10th June 2018. I had broad idea about the principles and strategies required for success in the direct selling business and started compiling them in the form of a book. It took me almost one year of writing and then 10 rounds of series editing to give it the form of a book. As I have mastered the process, now I have 3 bestselling books translated in 8 languages and I will be releasing the fourth one this year.
In September 2018, I started my YouTube channel and started making videos of my learnings in my home. It was a basic setup. I used to shoot videos in front of my room wall and give the videos to a freelance editor and then upload them myself on my channel. First few videos were not really good. But I stayed with the process and now we have more than 470 videos and my channel is considered as one of the most reliable 24x7 free online learning academy. We have 8 lakh plus subscribers from 150 plus countries which has generated 35 million plus views so far.
2018, I started posting regularly on Instagram and Facebook. We currently have a community of 3 lakh plus people on both these channels.
6. How and where do you find inspiration to churn
out content?
My one-million-plus community on social media is my inspiration.
When people message that their lives have been transformed with my content, it
really inspires to work more and create more of value-adding tools to help more
and more people. Every book reader, online course student, and social media
follower is very close to my heart, and seeing their lives transformed inspires
me to learn more, work more and teach more.
7. How your typical day look like?
Everyday is different in terms of work. I am a content creator,
motivational speaker, trainer, author, and investor. Everyday I juggle among
these different roles but few things are constant in my life like – daily
workout, time with my kids, morning and evening prayers, night walk after
dinner, reading, etc. I love to travel a lot and have been to almost every
state in India plus 28 countries.
8. How do you manage Growing such a big network on social
media?
I have some personal rules that I always follow while operating on
social media and those rules have helped me built this huge network –
· Respect your audience. My followers are giving me their time and I need to respect that.
Create value-adding content that solves some problems for my followers or gives them ideas and insights to make their life better.
· Stay connected to audience and understand what they really need.
· Always work with an intention to serve them. Put them first.
· 4G1A Rule – Give, Give, Give and Give before you ask for anything.
9. Your opinion about Network Marketing & its
Future in India?
Network Marketing is a form of distribution wherein product reaches
from manufacturer to consumers through a set of consumers who choose to become
direct sellers. Started in USA in 1940s, this form of business distribution is
very popular across the globe and has been growing consistently for past
several decades.
Network Marketing is the easiest way to entrepreneurship and anyone can start their business irrespective of their education, financial situation, age, location, and background. You can start this business part-time with whatever you are doing. You don’t need an office, stock, working capital, employees, etc. to start this business. Start doing it and as you keep learning and growing you can take it up as a full-time career.
As per FICCI and IDSA estimates, this business is currently generating sales of Rs. 18000 crores per year, and more than 80 Lakh people are associated with this business. by 2025, 1.8 crore Indians will be associated with this business generating annual sales of Rs. 64000 crores. Direct Selling and Network Marketing are used interchangeably to describe this business.
