Gaurav Madaan

As a digital marketer, I started by doing blogging SEO but then realise that these are not high-paying skills so went into doing something as the name suggests the affiliate marketing. After getting into affiliate marketing I got to know that there are so many can explode domains of digital marketing that are hardly being taught to any of us.

1. Tell us about your background and journey.

I started way back in 2010 when one of my friends introduced me to to an MLM Company which used to sell websites in the process of selling the websites I happened to make one for myself and at that time I discovered something called as Google AdSense that's where I really wanted to learn about digital marketing as a whole and how to make money from the internet so I went to do Masters from a prestigious MBA college in marketing and begin my journey.

To my surprise, nobody I have the the entire campus actually knew about digital marketing. Hence I started my learning through online channels.

I started by doing blogging and then slowly and steadily working for the clients. The name of my first blog was Geekotech.

This also became my first company's name in which we sold digital products across the internet and Got early success.

Then I started another company by the name HighonM - it stands for high on marketing. Along with my partner Roshni Dhal, I have been running this company for the last five years and helping people by learning the core skills in internet marketing and delivering exceptional marketing software for agencies across the globe.

2. How and when did you decide that you wanted to be a creator? Any story behind this that you would like to share?

During my MBA college when I was scraping for the information chance online I thought that whatever is happening to me right now should not happen to anyone else. People should be easily able to access content regarding digital marketing and learn it readily. That is where I got a change to start my own training institute and rather be the creator of something which would be helpful for people.

That is when I decided that someday in future I am definitely going to help people to get in-demand skills in the field of digital marketing.

3. What are some of the best career advice that you have ever received?

I am not up for advice from others, I rather do things which I feel are best for me hence I don't remember collecting any form of career advice I have ever taken.

4. What are your views on the fact that marketing and business are changing so drastically?

Marketing and business will always change things well you know take new shapes earlier it used to be physical Radio TV now these days it's mostly digital I am in a lot of physical things are still running and their valid and they are good and great but yeah forms have evolved. I see business is also just taking new forms and nothing much more than that.

One thing that we have to always remember is there could be a number of forms iterations with the core principles of Business and marketing will remain same forever.

In future, we might see something called as metaverse and blockchain and a combination in which marketing will go one Level beyond, but the principles of Marketing and businesses will always remain same.

- Iterate things that already work and integrate them in your own Organisation
- Choose between Freedom and Control, you can only have 1
- Build Systems, Processes, and Analytics

6. What are some of the most important factors for running a successful business?

- Speed of Execution
- Getting New Customers
- Satisfying those Customers

- Build Systems, your business should be able to work without you

7. Tell us about your journey as a  digital marketer.  How did you start, what challenges did you face and what are some of your best learnings out of it?

As a digital marketer, I started by doing blogging SEO but then realise that these are not high-paying skills so went into doing something as the name suggests the affiliate marketing. After getting into affiliate marketing I got to know that there are so many can explode domains of digital marketing that are hardly being taught to any of us.

I discovered how international market work how digital products are created how they are sold online. And then with full hands Taken all my learnings, I jumped into them and turned it into a real business.

The challenges I had was mostly related to right information not being available at the right time at the right place. Best learning which I have had is you know with just one laptop and internet connection you can win the World.

8.  Could you share some of the strategies for successful marketing in online business and what mistakes do people usually make here?

Some of my own successful strategies in online world as learning to influence people and taking and through a value journey with the help of the funnel I have created.

This helps me to kind of optimise for the maximum average order value while giving maximum amount of value to which I can give to my customer and help them in their journey too.

Other than that I think so controlling traffic is very important for most people they are dependent on organic means which are not reliable always. And if you are dependent on your business on something then the chances are you not going to grow very fast. Hans learning ads was one of the best things I write in my online career how to run ads on Google how to run ads on Facebook how to run ads on YouTube and any other channel which allows us to run ads.

It's just like when I want to have water I can just go to the tap, switch it on, take the glass and thus have my water; just like that when I want traffic I can go to these ad platforms, I can switch on my ads, I can get traffic, I can convert them into sales and take them True Value Journeys.

9. What opportunities have come after covid times and how did you scale up at that time?

To be honest, in the initial timings of Kuwait a business route rustically we were having a blast the show operate on webinars increased really really high and cost per lead was low.

We were operating on a very high profit, but then I realised that it's not all about money. I need to take care of my health as well.

Since then I've been working on my health and simultaneously my business so that is what happened during covid but definitely, the rise in profits was very sharp as people have nothing much to do other than sit in their homes and surf on their phones and laptop.

10. Since there is a lot of competition even in online businesses, how can a business overcome this problem?

Competition will always be there in a capitalist economy, all you have to do is just find your unique selling proposition and execute on that.

I would say you should keep adding New USPs every 6 months so that Compeition is always left catching up.

You can compete on Speed, Quality, Quantity, Price, Accessibility, etc.

I hope you learned a thing or two from this interview. I wish you luck in your Career and life.
