Whenever Kohli comes out to play on the ground, he creates history. Breaking records now just seems routine to him. And by proving that to be true, once again Virat made a unique record in the history of world cricket last Wednesday.

It may be known to many that Virat Kohli is one of the best batters of all time in the world of cricket now. But you will be surprised to know that this former Indian skipper probably holds the record for most world records in a decade with the bat.

At times he has faced severe criticism from supporters and critics of Indian cricket for his aggressive attitude. But replied to all this criticism by dominating the world’s best bowlers with his bat and bringing victory to India several times.

Struggled to Perform

From 2019 to 2021, Kohli was not performing very well with the bat. At that time, he was unable to score any consecutive runs despite getting many chances. Many people questioned his place in the Indian team and his career as well. But nothing could break his strong will and determination.

This senior player of the Indian team immersed himself in more rigorous training to get his form back. And with the help of his teammates and coach David, he managed to retain his place in the Indian team and played consistently for the Indian team. Kohli also was not able to perform well in the 2021 UAE World Cup either.

Kohli in Asia Cup 2022

After that, the Asia Cup cricket tournament started on August 2022. The T-20 format was chosen for this edition of the Asia Cup keeping in mind the ongoing T20 World Cup. There Kohli scored a half-century against and a century against Afghanistan respectively. That century was his 71st century in international cricket which came after three years of waiting. After this fantastic performance in Asia Cup, King Kohli is seen returning to his old form on the world cricket stage.

Kohli in the 8th Edition of the T20 World Cup so far

The 8th edition of the T20 World Cup started in Australia on October 16. Here too Virat Kohli’s performance is outstanding so far.

India played their first match in this tournament against arch-rivals Pakistan. In that game, Virat played a very challenging inning of 82* off 53 balls for India and helped India win that crucial game against Pakistan by 4 wickets. In the next match against the Netherlands, he again played unbeaten innings of 62 runs off 44 balls for the Indian team and made a 95-run partnership with Suryakumar Yadav which also assisted India to beat the Netherlands. Against South Africa though, his performance with the bat was not very pleasing. He was dismissed for just 12 runs off 11 balls and returned to the pavilion and India conceded defeat in the match against South Africa.

But, then last Wednesday, Virat Kohli was again seen playing an outstanding inning against Bangladesh. He remained unbeaten in this day’s match with very important innings of 64 off 44 balls. His innings helped India wrest victory from Bangladesh by five runs (DLS method) in Adelaide. India is at the top of Group 2 because of Kohli’s blistering innings.

Kohli Claimed the Tops in the Chart

Before going to the ground against Bangladesh last Wednesday, Kohli’s T20 World Cup tally stood at 1001. He just needed only 16 runs to grab the top spot from Sri Lankan legend Mahela Jayawardene and that’s exactly what happened on the field on that day. He topped the record of 1065 runs in just 23 innings of the ICC T20 World Cup and left behind Jayawardene who held this record by scoring 1016 runs in 31 innings.

Also, it needs to be said here that even though the former Indian skipper is currently ranked 10th in ICC Men’s T20 rankings with 638 points, he has left everyone behind in the number of international T20 runs. Kohli has so far scored 3932 runs in 113 matches playing 105 innings. India’s Rohit Sharma is in second place by scoring 3811 runs in 138 innings out of 146 matches.

Likely to Become the Leading Run-scorer for 2nd Time

The former Indian captain has impressed everyone time and again with his performance in the game. With the bat, Kohli seems a different person from another world. We are all fascinated by his magic in the field. It is Kohli’s blistering performance that is inspiring India’s dream of winning the cup again. His total score so far in this ongoing tournament is quite staggering. In the 2022 edition of the T20 World Cup in Australia, Virat Kohli is still leading in the chart of top run-scorer; his total score in this tournament is 220 runs in 4 matches playing all 4 innings.

It should be noted that even before this, he once became the highest run scorer in a single edition of the T20 world cup by scoring 319 runs in 2013-14. This record remains intact to date. And in the 2015-2016 edition, he scored a total of 273 runs and become the leading run-scorer in India and second in the world. So now the question is can he break these records of his own in this T20 World Cup?

Reliable Kohli

The fact that whenever Kohli has come to the field, the hopes of the Indian fans have increased always to win the game and we also expect a good score from him as well. He can defeat any opponent with his powerful batting. As well as batting, his demeanor always works with an aggressive attitude which always inspires the team in any match.

But today Kohli is totally a new person who is very surprisingly calm and steady but also very bold and mature in the field. This Kohli is very confident and reliable which is very good news for the Indian team. He was noticed to use his experience perfectly to guide all the batters in every match while they are batting or fielding. Sometimes even during practice, Kohli talks to the young members of the team and helps them prepare for the matches.

Mahela on Virat’s Innings

After this outstanding feat last Wednesday, Mahela Jayawardene praised Kohli in an interview by addressing him as a “Warrior”. In addition, he sent the legendary Indian batsman a special note in which he remarked, “Form is temporary but class is permanent. Very well-done buddy.”

Conclusion

After 2011, India has not won any cup in any important ICC event. So, the hopes of Indian fans are high this time to win the T20 World Cup. Kohli’s consistent performance is expected to fulfill that dream of every Indian this time and create a history on the soil of Australia. All eyes will be on Virat Kohli for the 2023 World. It should be noted that all eyes will be on Virat Kohli’s performance for the upcoming 2023 World Cup because this might be the last world cup for this great Indian batter.

However, cricket lovers around the world are very impressed and happy with Kohli’s wonderful comeback. We all hope that he will play amazingly and spectacularly like this till his retirement age and will entertain the entire cricketing world in this way.
