Mystery Behind Kuldhara Village
1. Evil Eyes Of Salim Singh
According to the legend, the evil eyes of Salim Singh, the
powerful and debauched prime minister of the state, fell in love with the
village head's daughter. He desired to marry by force. He threatened the
village with grave consequences if they did not adhere to his wish.
Instead of submitting to the order by the tyrant, the Paliwals held a council and people of 85 villages left their ancestral homes and vanished. This was not all before they left. They put a curse on the Kuldhara that no one would ever be able to settle in their village after that.
To this date, the village remains barren; left almost the same as its inhabitants had left it centuries ago. It is also said that people have been chased away by strange paranormal phenomena.
2. Taxes
Another, possible reason can be that Salim Singh raised the
taxes to such a extent that it become invisible for the local community to
survive in the village. They decided to migrate to greener pastures.
However, people love the former story, after all, who doesn’t want a tinge of
romance and muster in their tales?
3. Paranormal Activities
The people of Kuldhara cursed the place as they left which prevented anyone from settling there. Since then, the village lies abandoned. To test if Kuldhara is haunted, some people from Delhi's Paranormal Society stayed here one night and prepared with their equipment to record any paranormal activity.
After spending 12 hours here, not only did they record unusual activity on their devices suggesting the presence of spirits in the area, but some of them also spotted shadowy figures in the night and were tapped on their shoulders by someone when no one was around. Spirits also revealed their names to the members of the society.
This scary incident just
adds to the story of Kuldhara and the village lies abandoned to this very day.
Tourists do come here during the day to see the ruins and click photographs but
no one dares to stay in this ghost town after sunset.
Scientific Reasoning About Kuldhara Village
A reconstruction of the past climatic history in the area with chronological dating of charcoal, sand, wood and pottery shards by
different scientific techniques like Thermoluminescence, Optically Stimulated
Luminescence and radiocarbon dating would provide information on the type of vegetation
grown by the Paliwals and would give a certain clue to the time of onset or
establishment of the culture as well as the main reason behind the desertion of
the village settlements.
