Shah Jahan constructed the Red Fort when he choose to transfer capital from Agra to Delhi (1638).

Red Fort is also known as Lala Qila and Qila – r Mubarak.

The original colour of Red Fort is white because ur is limestone. It is 250 – an acres plot of land. There are several structures within this Fort, which is situated on a 256-acre plot of land.

More than 3000 people used to live in Red Fort. The king's wives and girlfriends, children and their maids mostly lived in the Fort.

Every year on 15th August in the Red Fort the flag is hoisted by the Prime Minister. Mughal Harem inside Red Fort has been conserved and thrown open to the public.
