The most basic advice I can give to anyone is that. Go to gym, Lift weight, Run and Eat clean. Listen to your body's hunger signal, feed it whenever it gets hungry and stop when full. Eat at least 1 gram protein per kg of your body weight. And must go to an expert for the diet plan.

1. Tell us more about yourself and your profession.

My full name is Sagar Rajaram Jadhav. I am basically from Pune, born in a typical middle-class family. I was an obese kid and had a low self-esteem.

I started working out when I was 16 and I fell love the way it made me feel. I became more confident and disciplined. By the time I reached age 18, I knew which line of work I wanted to choose as my career.

After getting the personal trainer certification from K11 School of Fitness Sciences. I kick-started my career as a personal trainer in December 2009.

2. What is your fitness mantra?

Run like a mad dog, lift heavy things, eat lots of good quality protein and fats. I eat carbs but in moderation mostly on weekends. No sugar.

3. What are some of the major misconceptions about diets and exercise?

One of the major misconceptions about exercise is that only cardio can make you lose weight and muscles are only for bodybuilders. I think it's mainly because most people are misguided about how our body responds to strength training.

There are many misconceptions about food as well. One of them I deal with on a daily basis is that we don't require protein to lose weight or even to survive for that matter. I just realised that I have been dealing with this particular protein myth since the beginning of my career.

4. How can one build a successful career in this field?

Its straight forward like every other industry. Deliver more than what you are expected to deliver. Keep doing this for a long enough time, as you skill up yourself. Soon there will be a time, you will get paid extremely well even for the little time you invest.

5. Any advice you would like to give someone who wishes to lose weight or gain weight?

The most basic advice I can give to anyone is that. Go to gym, Lift weight, Run and Eat clean. Listen to your body's hunger signal, feed it whenever it gets hungry and stop when full. Eat at least 1 gram protein per kg of your body weight. And must go to an expert for the diet plan.

6. How do diets and exercise contribute to overall well-being and happiness?

There’s no short answer to this. Exercising, Eating clean, and Meditating all these are a part of an ecosystem. If you Think of a human body as a machine, which needs to be moved (exercise)  and maintained (Nutrition and meditation) well in order to perform at its optimal level.

The more you sit, the more movement related problems you will have in your body. The more you eat crap, the less energy you will have to perform.

The more stupid stuff you watch on the screen, the more anxiety you will have because that's what you have been feeding to your mind.

7. Do you agree with the fact that before starting a gym one needs to have a strong mindset about fitness? If yes then how to develop it?

Yes, I do believe that people need to have stronger mindset to be able to achieve goal.  But you get stronger mindset only after putting yourself in uncomfortable situations and for some people going to the gym and losing weight is one of them.

My advice to everyone who wants to go after their gaol. DO NOT OVER-COMMIT. Most people fail because they overcommit. You don't have to go to gym everyday. Find an ideal frequency for yourself to go to the gym. It should be challenging but at same time it shouldn't bog you down.

Two days of workout in a week is also an ideal frequency and 6 days a week also. Find what is ideal for you.

8. We live in 2022 where there is stress and competition so how do change our lifestyle?

Do not overcommit, find an ideal frequency of change for yourself. This process is different for everyone.

9. Can a thin person gain muscles without consuming supplements and eating expensive food?

Anyone can gain muscles without taking supplements. And with food please define expensive. For example, If you eat chicken outside. It will come at a cost depending on a restaurant. But if you cook the same chicken at home, it will be hell lot cheaper.
