Kamalpreet Singh - If the Lessons and Advice Given in the Book Are Practical and Are New to Me I Try to Follow and Test Them (Book Blogger From India)

Kamalpreet Singh

Reading books have impacted my life a lot. Reading books made me more disciplined, calm, and intelligent. After reading so many books, especially self-growth books I've seen a massive change in my personality. I started valuing things and developed a growth mindset.

1. Tell us about your background and journey.

My name is Kamalpreet Singh and I'm from a small village in Punjab. From my childhood days, I was a curious child. In school, I would read stories and comic books in the library. Along with comic books, I would tinker around with encyclopedias and Guinness books of world records. then gradually I discovered other genres also like Nonfiction and self-help.

2. What inspired you to read books? Any experience you would like to share that made you love books or was it your passion?

One day my elder brother brought some books home. Those books were mainly self-help and nonfiction ones. Until now I was reading stories and books with visuals. But when I first read those books I got bored because they didn't have any pictures. and then I started reading those books self-help books regularly and began understanding them. and gradually I developed my interest in nonfiction books and my love for reading books.

3. What inspired you to read books? Any experience you would like to share that made you love books or was it your passion?

Actually one evening, as usual, I was scrolling through my Instagram and I saw a post sharing some lessons from a book. and then I discovered some more pages sharing book insights and recommendations. then I got the idea that I also read so many self-growth books. then why not share my learnings and lessons with people? and then I started my own page and began posting book reviews and recommendations.

4.  How did you manage to make a presence on Instagram and YouTube? What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?

Well making a presence online is more difficult than saying. In my starting days, I didn't know anything about how to create content, how to create reels and videos, etc. I used to get only three or four likes. but one thing that I understood very early is that you have to keep posting consistently. you have to keep creating content and engaging with more and more people. I used to create posts daily hoping that this time I will get more likes and reach. And then my posts started getting noticed by people and ultimately my page started growing.

5. Is it financially sustainable to be a book blogger and how do you earn from it?

Well, Yes being a book blogger can be a financially stable career. It depends on your content and how much the audience engages with it. The more your content is engaging and appealing, the more people will love it. I've seen many people with just 1K followers earning much money as compared to people who even have more than 50K followers and do not earn much. There are several ways you can earn money like doing paid book promotions, paid partnerships, and affiliate marketing.

6. How and where do you find books to read and do you have criteria to select a book for reading?

I usually get to know about new books from the Instagram handles of various book publishers and authors. moreover, I keep an eye on new releases on Goodreads. The book I choose to read always depends on my genuine curiosity. that means if I want to learn about time management, then I will choose books related to time management. I mainly read books on self-help and nonfiction. So I accordingly select books that fall into this category and choose to read, and I sometimes choose the book if my fellow book reviewers are praising and recommending it.

7. After reading so many books what learnings from them would you like to share with others?

I want to say that keep going. no matter how many problems you face, no matter how much criticism you get. Just have faith in yourself and believe in your dreams.

Always have a learner's mindset. always try to learn from books, people, interviews, etc. always try to gain knowledge and apply those principles in your life.

8. What impact did books make in your life?

Reading books have impacted my life a lot. Reading books made me more disciplined, calm, and intelligent. After reading so many books, especially self-growth books I've seen a massive change in my personality. I started valuing things and developed a growth mindset.

9. How much time do you take to read a book and what is your strategy to finish a book on time?

It depends on the book-length and whether it's interesting and engaging. But on average, I complete reading a book in a week or two. Although sometimes I skim and skip the lessons that feel repetitive. I read for one hour in the morning time and one hour before going to bed. Sometimes I even read more when I have to complete the book early.

10. Do you follow everything that a book states or do you sometimes disagree with it?

Well If the lessons and advice given in the book are practical and are new to me I try to follow and test them. We all are different and have different beliefs but it doesn't mean that what you believe is right. sometimes when any book disagrees with my beliefs and values I try to think from the author's perspective and understand those things.
