Since India got Independence in 1947, it has faced several terrorist attacks at different times over the years. The attacks were mostly done by the terrorist groups that exist in Pakistan. Terrorists have been much more vicious than before with the improvement of scientific technology and advanced weapons. They have the deadliest nuclear weapons, crying gas, biological weapons (fatal viruses or bacteria), and chemical weapons to use for mass destruction. This is what makes them more powerful and dangerous for the world.
There are different terrorist groups in the Islamic provinces of Pakistan such as Lashkar-e-Taiba, Al Qaeda, Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, Tarikh-e-Taliban Swat, etc. They claim that they do- the suicide attacks, hijackings, there is good intent. They do all these to save humanity from impureness, and darkness and to bring peace as a representative of Allah or god.
Terrorist groups always want to grab the areas of East Punjab and Kashmir that are attached to Pakistan but separated by borders. They conducted many destructive and dangerous attacks in several regions of India including Delhi, Maharashtra (Mumbai), Uttar Pradesh (Lucknow), Punjab, and Kashmir as well.
Kashmir has always been a hotspot of the most violent terrorist attacks. This is because Kashmir has great importance from a geopolitical perspective. Along with Tarikh-e-Taliban, many Pakistani terrorist groups coincided with several military operations to snatch the province from India.
How could we forget the Mumbai attacks of 9/11 (2011), the Kargil War (1999), or the Varanasi Bombings (2010)? There are 113 attacks that have been performed in India by different terrorist organizations so far. Among all of them, one of the most deadliest and fearsome terrorist attacks just happened in India a few years back at Lethapora in the Pulwama district of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir on 14 Feb 2019. India celebrated the 4th anniversary of the Pulwama attack as ‘Black day’ on 14th February 2023.
In this article, we are gonna remember the day of the sacrifice of our jawans and military forces in the attack.
Overview of the Pulwama Attack
Over 44 members of the CRPF were murdered brutally and numerous more were hurt when a terrorist crashed an explosive-laden car into a bus in the Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir, inflicting one of the biggest terror attacks on the state since the Uri incident of 2016. The attack was claimed by the Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed. The attack brings up important questions regarding the Valley's deteriorating security situation, India's relationship with Pakistan, and the national security framework of the nation. It shook the Indian government and all Indians were deeply mourned the deaths of the members of the Indian army.
A truck full of explosives drove into the bus near Lethpora at 3:15 p.m., killing about 40 members of the 76th Battalion of the CRPF and injuring many more. The hospital at the army installation in Srinagar received the injured men right away.
The Pulwama incident was immediately traced to the Pakistan-based terrorist organization Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM). Adil Ahmad Dar, a Kakapora native who joined the terrorist group in 2018, was also featured in a video clip posted by the organization.
A 12-person team was assembled by India's National Investigation Agency to look into the Pulwama assault. Along with the Jammu and Kashmir Police, the team worked.
The vehicle that plowed into the convoy in the Pulwama attack may have been carrying 300 kg of explosives, according to preliminary investigations. While the crew was able to authenticate the suicide bomber's identity, it was unable to determine where the explosives came from. The NIA charged 19 people in August 2020 with carrying out the bombing in Pakistan's direction. The main culprit behind this attack was identified as 22-year-old Adil Ahamed Dar.

At their various hometowns, the state funerals for the CRPF jawans who died were held. India removed Pakistan from its list of most preferred countries on the same day, increased the customs tariff on all commodities imported into India from Pakistan by 200%, and encouraged the Financial Action Task Force on Money Laundering (FATF) to place Pakistan on its "blacklist."
All around India, demonstrations and candlelight marches took place, and a curfew was imposed in response to the violent demonstrations in Jammu and Kashmir.
Two terrorists and two supporters were killed in the early hours of February 18 by a joint team of the 55 Rashtriya Rifles, CRPF, and Special Operations Group of India in an anti-terrorism encounter operation that was conducted in response to Indian intelligence inputs. In the conflict with the insurgents, four Indian security men lost their lives.
Abdul Rasheed Ghazi, also known as Kamran, a Pakistani national believed to be the attack's planner and JeM's commander, was one of the two terrorists that were killed.
On February 26, in the wee hours, India attacked the JeM training facilities in Balakot. Twelve IAF Mirage 2000 aircraft flew beyond the line of control and struck JeM training facilities near Balakot. In the attack, India claimed to have killed between 300 and 350 militants.

URI Surgical Strike
In response to the Pulwama attack, the Indian Army with the help of the Modi government began conducting surgical strikes against terrorist camps in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir on 28th September 2016. The incident on September 28, 2016, was in retaliation for a terrorist attack on an army base in Uri, Kashmir, on September 18, which left 19 soldiers dead and was carried out by terrorists with ties to Pakistan.
In conclusion to this, I want to say that all kinds of acts of terrorism should have been stopped and restricted in the world. The governments of different countries should come together to prevent terrorism against any country. Only that’s how we can save humanity and kindness in this cruel world.
And the jawans who sacrificed for their motherland India would never be forgotten. They will be memorized everyday heroism in the time of the attack. “Remembering our valorous heroes who we lost on this day in Pulwama. We will never forget their supreme sacrifice. Their courage motivates us to build a strong and developed India”, PM Modi tweeted (the Hindustan Times).
