There are a
great number of bird sanctuaries located throughout the nation, and at various
times of the year, various species of birds from all over the world congregate
there. Some of these areas act as natural habitats for the birds and help to
preserve their species. We have compiled a list of the top bird sanctuaries in
India for those of you who are passionate about birdwatching. As a result,
visitors to India can take pleasure in watching birds at any of the top seven
fascinating bird sanctuaries listed here.
1. Bharatpur
Bird Sanctuary, Rajasthan
This sanctuary is perhaps the most well-known location in all of Rajasthan for observing birds. It is also on the list of locations that are serviced by certain luxury train routes in India, so it is included in that list. It is also known as Keoladeo Ghana National Park and Keoladeo National Park, and it is home to more than 360 different species of birds.
The park covers a total
area of 28 square kilometers. In addition to the many different colored birds
that can be found here, there are also over 300 different species of flowering
plants, 13 different species of snakes, lizards, turtles, amphibians, fishes,
and other animals. It consists of the incredible Indo-Giant plain, which is
home to a beautiful ecosystem. Bird watchers will be in hog heaven here, as
they will have the opportunity to observe some of the rarest and most unusual
species in the entire world. One of the most popular places to visit for
tourists in Rajasthan is the Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary.
2. Thattekad
Bird Sanctuary, Kerala
The
Thattekad Bird Sanctuary can be found in the state of Kerala, which is located
in the southwestern part of India. It is widely regarded as being among the
most important bird sanctuaries in all of India. An evergreen, lowland forest
that was referred to as the "richest bird habitat of peninsular
India" by eminent ornithologist Salim Ali, you'll find hundreds of rare
and endemic species in and around the park. Salim Ali described the park as
"the richest bird habitat of peninsular India."
You
can get a sense of the surrounding area by taking strolls through the
surrounding villages, going on bike rides, or paddling kayaks on the lakes.
These are all great ways to explore the area. The activities you participate in
will begin in the week hours of the morning and continue well into the evening,
varying in nature depending on the time of day and the state of the weather. I
strongly recommend that anyone interested in truly submerging themselves in the
verdant natural surroundings book a stay at the nearby Hornbill Camp, which
features twenty tent houses and is located just across the river from the
campground.
3. Mangalajodi,
Odisha
On
the northern border of Asia's largest brackish water lake, Chilaka Lake, are
the tranquil wetlands of Mangalajodi. Birds that migrate from the Caspian Sea,
Lake Baikal, and the Aral Sea reside in these wetlands from the middle of
December to the beginning of February. And thanks to the use of a small boat,
you'll be able to get incredibly close to such a wide variety of birdlife!
Both
Odisha and West Bengal, which are to the north of Odisha, have an abundance of
different bird species outside of the cities. An amazing off-the-beaten-path
excursion that would appeal to both birders and people who aren't particularly
interested in birds could be created by combining Mangalajodi with
Bhubaneshwar, Dhenkanal Palace (and the sun worshippers of the Mahima dharma),
the Rajbari Bawali, and Kolkata.
4. Vedanthangal
Bird Sanctuary, Tamil Nadu
Vedanthangal
is a neighborhood in Kanchipuram, and its name translates to "the hamlet
of the hunters." The list of famous bird sanctuaries in India includes
this location as one of the best entries for Tamil Nadu. This is the oldest and
smallest bird sanctuary in the United States, and it covers a total area of
thirty acres of land. Each year, almost forty thousand migratory birds stop by
this sanctuary. The months of October through January are considered to be the
best times to visit this sanctuary.
5. Kaundinya
Bird Sanctuary, Andhra Pradesh
A haven for people who are passionate about birds and the natural world, the Kaundinya Bird Sanctuary can be found approximately 86 kilometers away from Horsley Hills and covers a total area of 358 square kilometers. This is one of the most well-known bird sanctuaries in India, and it is famous for the diverse and abundant biodiversity that can be found here.
Elephants, porcupines, sloth
bears, spotted bears, tigers, pumas, jungle cats, and monitor lizards are some
of the other animals that can be found in this region, in addition to a large
number of endemic and migratory bird species.
