About the Author:

Ana Huang is an author who primarily writes in steamy New Adult and contemporary romance genres. Her stories range from light-hearted quick reads to dark and intense romance and suspense, but they all have Strong characters with plenty of banter and swoon-worthy moments in them. Besides reading and writing, Ana loves to travel and explore, is obsessed with her hot chocolate, and has several swoon-worthy fictional boyfriends. She lives in New York City.

About the Book:

This book revolves around the Princess of Eldorra Bridget Von Ascheberg who loves her Freedom more than anything but has to sacrifice it for the sake of her family and her family’s entity. She is the perfect princess who does charity at an animal shelter for her love for animals, is strong-willed, and chooses to live and love.

Our male lead, Mr. Rhys Larsen is a broody, arrogant bodyguard whose job is to protect his client which is now the Princess who turns out to be the death of him. She turns out to be the forbidden fruit he desires, she breaks his defenses built over years and fills his scarred heart with love.

As unexpected and forbidden their love is so more that their urge and desires intensify for each other. It is a slow to medium-burn royal romance, which can be read as a standalone or a continuation of Twisted Love. It has several time gaps which makes it a bit difficult to comprehend at times.

My Review:

Bearded, protective, hot, possessive, supports and adores and loves Bridget. Rhys is one of those alpha characters whose indifference and broodiness come from his past traumatic experiences. He is the absolute best dirty-talker which serves as a channel of the perfect blend of spark and smut.

This book has moments that give us butterflies. When Rhys doesn’t let Bridget visit a festival just because he wasn't sure about the security arrangement of it so he built an indoor “festival” for her in her house. He put up a tent, arranged for snacks, and played the festival live on the TV. The cutest part of all is that he lied to her and told her that it was her friends who put it all together, but it was all his efforts.

Rhys’s jealousy is top-notch like when he wanted to murder Steffan on Bridget’s date. His inner thoughts all the while, before they develop their relationship, consists of him crushing and lusting over her and getting jealous of any man who even looked in Bridget's direction.

Bridget is my favorite from Ava’s friend group. She belongs to the royal family yet is a commoner at heart and likes to live the same. She is passionate, strong, and kind and has the confidence all of us would want to have in ourselves. She knows to have her way through all the situations even the ones like her brother’s abdication and reigns over the kingdom. She is The girl's Boss.

Their chemistry started with hatred. Bridget doesn't like how Rhys is trying to change the way she lives her life and meddles in between. Like increasing her security and forcing her to not go to events because he didn't think he keeps her safe in such circumstances. And Rhys doesn’t like how Bridget behaves and how she never listens to what he says.

Personal Verdict:

I think that the main characters’ personality development is the biggest issue in the book. There is no overall character development of Bridget or Rhys. The version of them that we meet in the first chapter is the same one that we see on the last page. It’s not that they were unlikeable characters, it’s just that character development adds more depth to the story which is a bit of a turnoff in this book.

Overall, Twisted Games is a good read and the evolved writing makes the book a great one. It is one of the best reads in the Royal-bodyguard trope and forbidden love trope. There was just something about how the words flowed so naturally that we couldn't help but make us adore the characters. The setting of the book with all the vivid descriptions of the smallest of details makes this book very engaging and fun to read.

My Rating of the book is 4.1/5. Good for a change in regular reading pattern. Not preferred for people who don’t like time jumps.
