Oscars are always regarded as the epitome of success for anyone from the film-making fraternity. Last won in 2009, Indians brought Oscar home for Slumdog Millionaire in the categories Best Sound Mixing, Best Original Song (For ‘Jai Ho’), and Best Original Score.
2023 marks a recreation of history, with India winning two
out of three nominated categories. Along with that, the presence of prominent
Indian celebrities like Deepika Padukone, and Ram Charan, N.T. Rama Rao Jr. and
so tended to be the highlight of the evening for many.
RRR Brings Glory To The Indian Music Fraternity
After making everyone tap their feet at Golden Globe, RRR’s
iconic song ‘Naatu Naatu’ makes history by winning Oscar 2023 for Best Original
Song. The song was competing against Diane Warren, Mitski, David Byrne,
Ryan Lott, Rihanna, and Lady Gaga.
From being a viral dance step, to representing the Indian
Cinema on the biggest platform in the world, ‘Naatu Naatu’ has truly come a long
way. Along with winning the Oscar, this song was also performed at the award
show and was loved by artists from all over the world.
Unlike the fellow nominees, ‘Naatu Naatu’ was film-centric
and highly relevant to the movie it was made for. RRR is a movie that travels
back to the time when India was under British Colonization, and this song marks
a dance battle between the main characters of the movie and the Britishers.

biggest platforms all over the world. From being the global ambassador for
Louis Vuitton, and Qatar Airways; to being a jury member at Cannes and
presenting at Oscars 2023, Deepika Padukone continues to be the queen of
hearts.
At the 95th Academy awards, Deepika Padukone
introduced RRR’s ‘Naatu Naatu’ on stage before its live performance. Her announcement
received loud cheers and hooting; at the same time, we didn’t fail to deliver
the essence of ‘Naatu Naatu’ and the ‘desi naach’.
Netizens applauded her for keeping the accent natural and
not giving in to the peer pressure of taking up an American accent. Her speech received
tremendous positive responses on Twitter, while some of her fans bashed trolls
for constantly targeting her actions in her home country.
Dressed in a beautiful black velvet gown by Louis Vuitton
and Cartier Jewellery, she completed her look with matching velvet gloves while
channeling Audrey Hepburn vibes.
As Indians, let us just hope this is just the beginning
of many more achievements to come our way. It is truly great to see how Indian
culture is being recognized by the most prestigious platforms across the world,
and we wish our artists nothing but the best.
