High school, unless you were one of the cool people, is not the best environment for anyone, as we all know. Every teen or young person's hardships are beautifully captured in Real Beauty. This series does an excellent job of capturing insecurities, resentment, possessiveness, one-sided love, heartbreaks, and betrayals. The play depicts the everyday insecurities we all have, which helps the viewer identify with the characters.

This television show doubles as an educational drama. It demonstrates the profound effects that bullying, anxiety, and body image issues can have on a person. Most young people lose their lives as a result of these issues, therefore this series definitely accomplishes its goal of educating others. This series is based on  Yaongyi's identically named Line Webtoon. Particularly Choi Eun-Woo, who has features that are very comparable to those of an anime character, the characters are exceptionally handsome and seem quite similar to the webtoon characters.

Little About The Story But No Spoilers

The lead of the narrative is a high school student named Lim Joo-Kyung (Moon Ga-young), who experiences terrible bullying and harassment at the hands of her classmates because of the way she looks and doesn't conform to Korean beauty standards. She was mistreated by a particular gang of three girls so severely that she wanted to commit suicide. Fortunately, our main character Lee Su-ho (Cha Eun-woo) intervened and saved her life. In her previous school, she was extremely lonely, had no friends, and was used to performing errands for other people.

Her life begins when she relocates, which finally results in her enrolling in a new school. She resolves to conceal her actual self and use cosmetics there in order to avoid the challenges she previously encountered. She also maintains such a high level of grooming that even without cosmetics, nobody would be able to identify her face. She always brings cosmetics to school, and the students at her new school refer to her as "the goddess."

She can clearly see the changes because now, in addition to wanting to be her friend and take her out on dates and complementing her, they also feel nervous in front of her because of how stunning she is.

Finding Her Passion

In order to protect herself from bullying at school, Lim Joo-Kyung learned how to apply cosmetics, but she finally realized that this pastime had turned into her love. She began her work at a cosmetology clinic as well. Her mother first opposed Lim Joo-desire, Kyung's but as time went on, she came to appreciate it and began to support her.

Lim Joo-Kyung pursued her objective with great fervor and diligence. She put money down for her education costs by working a part-time job at a cafe. We were able to view a video of Joo-Kyung truly studying makeup techniques from her favorite YouTuber in the majority of episodes. She was simply so enthusiastic and joyful.

My View

I adored this series for many reasons, but if I had to pick just one, it would be the promotion and education of the usage of skin care products. In this drama, which most K-dramas don't, they also showed the audience a ton of unique beauty items and demonstrated how to use them. They also provided a few hints here and there in most episodes. They also demonstrate the significance of using skincare products to aid in skin healing after daily injury.

My all-time favorite lead is the second one. Although being aware that Joo-Kyung was in love with Lee Su-Ho, he shields her. The chemistry between Han Seo-Jun and Joo-Kyung is adorable and endearing. This Korean drama was significantly different from others in that it showed the lead female character's flaws in addition to her exceptional beauty and cuteness.

My rating 4.7/5
