When people look at robots, they are pleasantly surprised
and badly scarred at the same time. Similarly, while having a ‘robot’ as a
servant might sound pleasing to many if the same ‘robot’ can replace them in
their jobs, it’ll frighten people to the core.
As we have officially entered the age of ChatGPT and
GBard, we can’t help but wonder that is our future careers at stake with the
advancing technology. The threats of ‘technology replacing human resources’
that were in discussion for decades suddenly start sounding true.
While this fear cannot be eliminated, it can be
eliminated to some extent. We, humans, can diversify, learn new things
constantly, and most importantly, we have a conscious that keeps us alert and
ready to deal with any problem that comes our way.
So, to ease your thoughts a little, here are some
jobs/skills that AI will never be able to replace
Chief Executive Officers (CEOs)
Entrepreneurs will always be the ones who will make AI
work for them. Being an entrepreneur is never taught through texts, so any
robot that derives its knowledge based on existing information will not
understand how the mind of an entrepreneur works.
Being an entrepreneur requires leadership skills,
creativity, risk-taking, and most important of all, flexibility. All these
qualities certainly lack in AI. And I hope humans are never ‘adventurous’
enough to include the idea of consciousness in robots.
So here, the entrepreneur might use AI to ease the
problem of remembering anything textual, but any AI will never be smart enough
to sit in that chair instead.
Lawyers and Judges
We have many cases where people use AI tools to look up
laws that can support their arguments, but we all have to agree that being a
judge or a lawyer is not all about cramming existing laws, it’s about
possessing the art of negotiating and debating.
Any AI will always see facts and declare the result if it
is ever given the job of a lawyer or a judge. As we can comprehend, AI sees
everything in black in white. AI will possess the ability to understand and
repeat mere ‘facts’.
But the job of a lawyer is to argue for and against the
truth. And the truth is not always in facts. Similarly, the job of a judge is
to give the win to the side that argues better, and not just rely on facts. So,
these jobs will never want AI instead of humans.
Teachers and Lecturers
We all went through the phase of ‘online classes’ in the
infamous 2020. Lack of human interaction led to weak relationships between
teachers and students, and also between students as classmates too. Now, if I
ask you what would you rather have, a mere website teaching you what you need
to know, or a really good teacher who understands you beyond your academics and
helps you in your holistic development?
Any smart person will go with the latter option. A
screen, a website, or a chat can never replace a teacher. As the process of
learning goes beyond texts, a teacher also has to go beyond textual
information. And that, AI is incapable of.
PR Managers And Event Planners
These jobs are entirely based on human interaction and
human touch. Public relations managers are all about creating and maintaining
human relations that require emotional intelligence. And currently, AI cannot
connect with humans on an emotional level.
Similarly, event management is not a by-the-book job. It
requires an understanding of unique needs and wants, and this job is based
entirely on customization. It is hard for any AI to achieve this as AI is
famous for automated functions and not customized. The understanding of human
needs and wants is beyond the understanding of AI as of now.
Writers And Authors
While ChatGPT is popularly used for writing assignments
and articles, it can never replace the creativity that exists in the human
mind. Presenting fragments of existing information for the completion of a task
is easier, but when it comes to creating original content, that is where AI
loses the game.
When it comes to writing novels, TV series, movies, plays
and so, it is the human mind that will always be in demand. Factors like
originality and creativity are exclusive in human work as of now.
