Book Review - Verity by Colleen Hoover

Introduction

The psychological suspense novel "Verity" written by Colleen Hoover is so riveting and stressful that it will have readers on the edge of their seats from the very first page till the very last.

Storyline-Non Spoilers!

The main character, Lowen Ashleigh, is a writer who is having trouble making a living. After the original author of a popular book series, Verity Crawford, is injured in a car accident, Lowen is recruited to finish writing the remaining volumes in the series.

As Lowen digs further into Verity's notes and outlines, she finds a secret manuscript that discloses realities that are both unsettling and alarming about Verity's history and present. As Lowen continues to read, she finds herself becoming more and deeper caught up in Verity's web of deception, manipulation, and perverted fantasies.

What I liked Most in The Book?

The writing that Hoover produces is excellent, including a storyline that moves quickly and characters who are well-developed and intricate while yet having flaws. The story is written from Lowen's point of view, and readers will find themselves able to empathise with her troubles as she battles with her developing attraction to Jeremy, Verity's husband, and her moral issue of whether or not to reveal Verity's secrets to the outside world. The narrative is told from Lowen's point of view.

The skillful manner in which Hoover gradually unveils the layers of Verity's character and the events of her past in "Verity" is one of the most major qualities of the novel, and it keeps readers guessing right up until the very last pages. This is not a book for those who have a weak stomach, since it tackles some heavy topics including child abuse, traumatic experiences, and mental illness.

Final Remarks

"Verity" is an outstanding piece of suspense writing that will leave readers gasping for air and demanding more. The prose that Hoover produces is eerie and breathtaking, and her characters leave an indelible impression. Everyone who enjoys a good psychological thriller and is searching for a novel that will keep them wondering right up to the very end should definitely pick up this book and give it a read.
