While everyone is talking about K-dramas all the time, we fail to appreciate the other dramas of different countries. For instance, Turkish dramas. With great storylines, gripping climaxes, and creative comedy, it will keep you on the edge of your seat almost at all times.

One of the famous Turkish dramas I would recommend is ‘Love for Rent’.

"Love for Rent" is a Turkish romantic-comedy television series, also known as "Kiralık Aşk" in Turkish. The show first aired in 2015 and ran for two seasons until 2017. It stars Elçin Sangu as Defne and Barış Arduç as Ömer, who enter into a marriage to fulfill their respective needs.

Defne, a young girl from a middle-class family, is in debt and needs to pay it off, while Ömer, a successful businessman, needs to convince his grandfather that he is no longer the playboy he used to be. They agree to contract marriage, but as they spend more time together, they develop real feelings for each other.

My View

Love for Rent has been on my watch list forever and I recently binge-watched it all. I must say the series gripped me to the throat. At times, you are on Omer’s side, other times you are on Defne’s. It shows the realities of society in Turkey and portrays actual characters and situations of day-to-day society.

A story full of heartbreaks and patch-ups, some parts gripped me emotionally and I believe some of the instances to be relatable for every spectator. Especially the compelling philosophies the characters throw at you at times.

As a fan of rom-com with great storylines gripping events and climaxes at every turn, I would recommend this to anyone and everyone who likes the same.
