Shrimant Dagdusheth Halwai was a prosperous sweet seller (halwai) in Pune. The couple lost their only son to the plague epidemic and decided to dedicate their wealth to build the temple and establish the Ganpati idol in honor of Lord Ganesha.

During these days they exaggerate their devotion by placing a tall ganesh idol . Those idols are very tall when we see them the tip of the crown touching the sky.
