For example, for a mother love is caring for her child, for a foodie love is food, for an artist, it can be dancing or singing or painting, anything or any feelings that make you feel happy, soulful, and different from the world is “love”.


Love cannot be only described as the intimacy between individuals in a relationship but it is more than that. The positive range of emotions including excitement, happiness, joy, etc are associated with love. 1. Agape 

 

A selfless and unconditional love between individuals. Here, people do not expect anything from their partners. This is mostly can be observed in old age relationships where the couples have the strongest bond and just pure love.


It is not only applicable in the case of two individuals instead the love between god and devotees, the fatherly love with child is also an example of an agape kind of relationship. In Christianity, it is considered the highest and purest form of love.


2. Platonic Love


It mostly happens with friends where we have some feelings but without any romanticism. Deep affection and care without any romantic and physical involvement are considered “platonic love”.


Here, individuals are aware of their feelings and limitations. This term is derived from the name of the famous philosopher “ Plato” who gave this concept and said that love could bring two people closer to their divine ideal. This idea is mostly associated with close friends who feel love among them but never practiced sexual relationships.


3. Pragmatic Love


A practical and mutually beneficial love based on reason. Generally, people here prioritize their bond, their feelings, and their emotional stability over spontaneous decisions. People try to find value in their partner that’s why they think practically to take a step ahead.


4. Twin Flame Love


It shows a spiritual connection among people like they are born to be together. The deepest kind of love where the partner seems to be the other half of the individual or the perfect soulmate.

5. Unrequited Love


Love that is experienced by the one person that is not reciprocated by the other. In simple words, it is a kind of one-sided love, where the other person does not have the same feelings that one has.

6. Long-Distance Love


Love that endures despite physical separation and geographical distance. It helps to build strong relationships and the individuals feel a more strong connection with their partner.

7. Forbidden Love


It is a kind of love between individuals who face societal or external barriers to their relationship. Most of the time relationship gets broken just for the fate of society and the parents. For example, because of caste or religion, most couples get apart and find someone else of their own caste and religion.


Here, the connection seems so strong among individuals. They are passionate and romantically engaged with their partners but in the end, they fall apart as they violate some cultural, religious, or societal norms.


8. Complicated Love


Love that is characterized by complexities. Complicated itself is an entangled or twisted word that changes the scenario as it seems to be something else. It does not have a single meaning, for example, if a person has feelings for someone but is not expressing is a kind of complicated love, if a person is confused about his/her feelings, or if there are no feelings and still they are together are also an example of complicated love.

It is associated with the deep and intense connection between two individual souls, who seem to be the perfect soulmates. It is beyond friendship or a normal bond.

10. Obsessive Love


 It seems a very intense and possessive kind of love that is sometimes marked as unhealthy because of the conditions. In this case, the person always tries to keep his beloved under his protection or possession, who at some point does not seem to be loved but toxic. 


In psychology, it is a kind of disorder as well where a person possesses an obsessive desire to fix a relationship as per his choices and agendas.

It shows commitments without any sexual or romantic involvement. The queer people live together, and get married but do not get into any physical relationship. It is a deep emotional bond that keeps the people together.

The romantic and passionate love between partners often involves physical intimacy. Eros is a concept in ancient Greek philosophy which shows a passionate and sensual kind of love. The individual desires an intense sexual bond with the partner.


As per the Bible, eros is reserved for marriage as sex outside marriage is forbidden in society.


13. Aromantic Love


Love is not focused on romantic attraction, but still, there is some sense of care and emotional attachment. It can be felt with friends, family members, pets, and their partners.


14. Parental Love


The deepest, purest, and unconditional love between between parents and their children. It is the only bond that remains till the last breath.

Having a good relationship with oneself is a first step towards building your self-esteem. Until you do not know how to love yourself, you won’t be able to bring the same affection to your partner. Healthy self-love contributes positively to a romantic relationship. 


16. Compassionate Love


A deep and affectionate love characterized by friendship and mutual support. Here, the person takes cognitive steps as he understands the one’s sufferings. It is a combination of love and compassion that embodies empathy, kindness, consideration, etc.


17. Playful Love


Love that involves fun, play, and enjoyment. It is a kind of mature love without letting go of the inner childhood nature. It consists of the early stages of a relationship like healthy flirting, crushing over each other, getting shy with that one look, first giggling talks, etc.


18. Empathetic Love


Love that is grounded in understanding and empathy for each other’s experiences. The individual understands your pain and suffering and feels the same as you feel, also tries to make you feel comfortable but does not engross the same amount of love.


19. Mutual Growth Love


A relationship where both individuals inspire and support each other’s personal growth. They act as one beings and build their career and personalities with each other’s involvement. They share things accordingly, give time to each other, and balance the relationship along with their other duties.


They prioritize their relationship and work on it to make it stable and long-lasting. They fight with the hurdles and obstacles together without being irritated and think rationally.


20. Kink Love


Love involves unique sexual and power dynamics, often rooted in trust and consent. Here, the person desires to fulfill his fantasies while performing non-conventional sexual activities.
