1. Tell us about your background and journey.
I come from a teaching background with many years of teaching experience. I started teaching as a History and Hungarian Literature and Grammar Teacher. Then, I retrained as an English as a Second Language Teacher.
During my teaching work, I started to deal with self-knowledge development and mindfulness so I could outstandingly build my personal development knowledge in my teaching methods by creating many communication exercises focusing on self-awareness development. Besides my schoolteacher work, I also took private lessons where I could help my students with their job search, helping them draft their resumes, and cover letters, and prepare them for job interviews.
Seven years ago, my husband and I moved to the UK. Getting to know a new culture and finding my place in it also gave me many insightful experiences and enhanced my own personal development. Since we grounded our relocation on my husband’s appealing job opportunity in a beautiful city on England’s south coast, I also had to go through the job search procedure, which helped me improve my own job searching and interview preparation techniques.
Four years ago, I became a mother. When I returned to school teaching, I realized that working as a schoolteacher was not working for me anymore. It did not give me too much freedom and work-life balance to be the parent I want to be, even though teaching will always be a meaningful part of my personality. I felt like I was failing at work and as a parent. I wanted a change – a more fulfilling job, better balance, and better finances.
2. What motivated you to transition from being an English teacher to becoming a Life, Career & Purpose Coach?
I was trapped in a situation where I felt I loved teaching, but the circumstances: the tremendous amount of overwork and not being allowed to decide when I would go on holiday and be with my daughter when she was ill and needed me, brought me the feeling of dissatisfaction, and I embarked on a journey of transformation that has brought me to where I am today.
Transforming my teaching skill set toward coaching, from helping people learn information to helping people change and find their fulfilled work that is in alignment with their true selves, is my passion, and I feel coaching is a career that lights me up.
From struggling, I have blossomed into someone genuinely in love with what I do and who I am. I have experienced true fulfilment and peace of mind by creating harmony and balance in my life.
3. Many professionals feel unfulfilled in their careers. How do you guide them in identifying their life purpose and aligning it with their professional pursuits?
Because I, myself also went through some career changes in my life, I absolutely understand my clients’ situations. My teaching experience enabled me to fully exploit my capability to help people develop their self-knowledge and writing skills, which are inevitable for their career change/development.
The psychology courses I took to get my three university degrees and my coaching studies gave me meaningful knowledge to understand people and help them redefine themselves, identify their skills and their values, to find out what they really want to do to discover their career goals and how to achieve them.
My teaching and coaching experience also helped me develop excellent empathy and listening skills, enabling me to understand people’s situations and break down their limiting beliefs.
I also worked in corporate marketing for three years. I could learn about business life and utilize and develop my business communication skills. I represented the company at international conferences.
I can help my clients find their career path, break through their limiting beliefs, and move past barriers and external expectations to get to the core of who they really are and what they really want for themselves.
My mission is to uplift and inspire individuals struggling with unfulfillment and unhappiness in their careers and lives. I understand the pain and frustration that comes with feeling stuck, and my ultimate desire is to empower others to break free from their limitations and embrace lives filled with purpose, joy, and boundless potential.
4. What has been the biggest challenge that you faced and how did you overcome that?
The biggest challenge I faced was becoming an entrepreneur from an employee. I always felt that coaching was close to my teaching work because I also helped people develop. However, building up my coaching business has required numerous new business skills that I needed/need to acquire. Working with other business/marketing/sales experts and business mentors has proved inevitable.
Still, at the same time, finding my own business journey my own style has gone together with making mistakes. Realizing what things I can take away from the business experts/strategists and implement in my own business, not letting them force their own ideas that are not in alignment with mine, has been the most difficult for me.
Accepting that no one can accomplish anything alone and we all need help to grow, practicing self-reflection, and slowing down to focus on the most crucial things helped me overcome this challenge.
5. Work-life balance is a crucial aspect for many professionals. How do you help individuals strike a balance between their career ambitions and personal life without compromising either?
First, I help them understand their career aspirations (which are different from one person to another), encouraging them practise some self-reflection. In pursuing career ambitions, people often work long hours and sacrifice personal time.
One of the critical factors that can help them manage their career aspirations and work-life balance is the ability to set boundaries. It is essential to learn how to communicate to their colleagues, managers, and most importantly, to themselves when they are available for work and when they are not.
Another essential step toward work-life balance is learning to prioritize tasks. With multiple projects and responsibilities at work, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. However, not all tasks have the same urgency or importance. By learning to prioritize tasks based on their importance and urgency, they can manage their time better and focus on tasks that align with their career goals.
6. What are your future aspirations as a Life, Career & Purpose Coach? Do you have any specific goals or projects you're excited about pursuing?
I have many future aspirations, moving into running group coaching programs besides one-to-one coaching sessions, working out coaching programs to help people develop their soft skills, master their emotional intelligence and conflict management are also parts of my future goals.
