Rahul Kumar - Kindness Plays a Very Crucial Part in an Actor’s Life (Actor / Millimetre of 3 idiots)

There's a hope talented ones will get their due.t offered a dynamic and creative outlet that academic pursuits couldn't match, captivating my interest more forcefully

1. Tell us about your background and journey.

I started my acting career on stage when I was 5 years old with an NGO in Gurgaon. Mukesh Chabbra( casting director) along with Mr. Vishal Bhardwaj and the team came to audition for us for his movie called THE BLUE UMBRELLA he selected 5 of us and then he cast me again in OMKARA as Saif Ali Khan's son. I pursued my journey and focused on theatre acting. I auditioned for 3 Idiots and bagged the role for "millimetre" I came to Mumbai at the age of 19 and now I will turn 29 on 9th September. Been here since that. 2. Did you ever think or dream of being an actor or artist? No, My inclination towards theatre over academics didn't stem from a lack of academic proficiency; quite the contrary, I was an excellent student in school. The allure of theatre, for me, was more about its immersive and expressive nature as a hobby. It offered a dynamic and creative outlet that academic pursuits couldn't match, captivating my interest more forcefully.

This preference didn't undermine my academic capabilities; it highlighted a personal choice towards a medium that allowed for a different kind of intellectual and emotional exploration. It was about following a passion that brought a unique fulfillment beyond the structured environment of the classroom. 3. How can one approach their career and have the confidence and belief to become an actor or artist? Self-confidence. Be a good human. Kindness plays a very crucial part in an actor's life. Learn the craft. Never stop observing. Keep pushing your limits as a wanderer. Your confidence will only help you if u also help your confidence. Nobody knows what works here. So keep trying keep failing. Eventually, you will find your place. 4. If not this, what would you be doing?

The dream of becoming an army man has always been a significant part of my aspirations. There's something incredibly captivating about the aura and demeanor of a soldier that resonates deeply with me. The discipline, bravery, and honor that define their lives are qualities I deeply admire. While I may not pursue this path in reality, the hope of portraying an army man on screen someday holds a special place in my heart.

To embody such a role, even if just for a few months during a film or series, would be an immense blessing. It's an opportunity to experience, albeit temporarily, the life of someone I've always looked up to—a chance to live out a dream in another way. 5. For a complete outsider with inroads, what advice would you like to give? Well, I am not an expert to advise here but nonetheless, I will just say a few words on this. See it's not easy. Trust me. If you want people to admire you and give you all the attention you have to work hard for that. And in today's age competition is on another level. But there's a hope talented ones will get their due. Bus lagey raho. ALL IZZ WELL. 6. What is your mantra of success? There is no mantra. Hard work, sincerity, and awareness play a very important role. It's a journey to cherish. No one had the mantra and no one will. 7. Which is your favorite book and why? I don't read much. I am more of a watcher. I watched so many interviews, made movies, and plays, and hearing about Shah Rukh Khan, Dibakar Banerjee, Imtiaz Ali, Vishal Bhardwaj, and Kunal Khemu is a delight. But having said that I am aware of the importance of books. It gives you a very different perspective of the world. It awakens your mind. I am starting to read now. I hope I will imbibe this habit.
