About The Book
Eat Pray Love depicts the story of a woman who is happily married, has a fulfilling job and amazing friends. Her husband wants to have children and a sweet family and they bought a big house in the suburbs together as well.
One day, she found herself running away from everything she wanted to indulge herself into and the tragedy was that she happened to get consumed by the idea of being a mother and a wife and a writer, all but none HERSELF and she was suffocated by everything she is and nothing her own.
She decided to end her marriage and soon, she got involved with a man named david. She put out the word Desperate Love for him as she clung upon David to escape her failed marriage’s pain and she thought it would get her the salvation and happiness she is seeking.
Time passed and David started to withdraw himself emotionally and now she crumbles every time she finds herself needing David's love more and more and this hungry obsession of needing that attention and love David used to give it to her for free turned into a tragic addiction and this addiction turned out to be the next devastating thing she was going through besides her divorce.
Faith has its own way to uncover itself. The author believes that God never slams a door on your face without opening another at your back. So, to get out of her staying misery and to seek something Beyond, she set herself through a QUEST.
The Quest started in the streets of Rome,Italy. She learnt Italian and to her surprise , the words dolce far niente meaning The Sweetness of Doing Nothing and Attraversiamo meaning Let’s Cross Over grabbed her attention the most.
Another simple yet strong thing a person can do is to Observe the world around and learn to build himself back up again. The Augusteum , a palace made by the king Augustus, was ruined by the barbarians.
The chaos it endured, the way it’s been adapted, burned, pillaged and then found a way to build itself again, and she was reassured.
Ruin Is a Gift. Ruin Is the Road to Transformation.
The Author is now in India, David’s Guru’s Ashram. Letting go is not something anyone does to set you free, it is all about forgiving yourself enough to love your soul and the world again.
The Holy truth she found out about India and Meditation is -
God Dwells Within You as You.
God does not care about your spiritual performance , it’s all about your Faith and Love you put while sitting there in his presence.
She concluded her quest in Bali, Indonesia. The medicine man taught her about the Balance to keep with herself, God and the love anyone seeks and wants in their life. Sometimes to lose balance for love is part of living a balanced life.
The Book ended with something exciting - The Physics of the Quest.
My Feedback
I found this book casually and when I was going through a painfully strange period of my life, I read this book. For me, the book simply does a thing - Turn the Table.
It is true that some things are too good to believe that they can happen but it does because I found this from a pile of around 5000 books jumbled in a room at the back of the bookstore. This Book was a very intimate experience of my life.
A memoir , written by a woman , who seeked God and built herself up, stronger this time and found herself. She wrote her personal events and experiences so profoundly that you will wonder how much courage is wrapped up in this tangled yet powerful world.
Worth Give a Read !
I would rate this book - 5/5
