Shreya Gupto - Insights Into Her Acting Journey And Advice For Aspiring Actors "With A Wooping 400k+ Followers" (Content Creator)

"Acting isn't just my profession; it's my lifelong passion, pursued with unwavering commitment and love for storytelling"

1. How did you discover your passion for acting?

I have always wanted to be an actor. This passion has been with me since childhood, leading me to start as a child artist. Over the years, my love for acting has only grown stronger. Each time I face the camera, I feel a thrill and a sense of purpose. Transforming into different characters and conveying emotions is something I deeply cherish. The journey from a child artist to more mature roles has been filled with hard work and dedication. Acting is more than just a profession for me; it's a lifelong passion that I pursue with unwavering commitment.

2. What’s the toughest part of bringing a character to life?

The most challenging aspect of acting is trusting yourself that you can ace the character. Believing in yourself, especially when it comes to doing justice to a role, is incredibly tough. This belief in self requires a deep conviction that you have the skills, understanding, and emotional depth to truly bring the character to life. It's about having confidence in your ability to interpret the character's motivations, nuances, and personality traits authentically. This self-trust isn't just about avoiding self-doubt; it's about wholeheartedly embracing the character and the story, committing to every moment with authenticity and passion.

3. How do you mentally prepare to step into a character’s shoes and undergo such transformations?

Honestly, the script is the Bible for an actor. It lays the foundation for everything, providing all the essential details needed to shape the character. At the script level, many aspects of the character's personality, motivations, and story arc are sorted out. From there, you bring your own knowledge, exposure, and experiences into the mix, interpreting the character through your unique perspective. Additionally, the guidance and direction from the director play a crucial role in refining your portrayal. This collaborative process of becoming the character is incredibly fulfilling and fun. It's a dynamic and creative journey that brings the script to life in exciting and unexpected ways.

4. Among all the projects you’ve worked on, which scene or moment stands out as your personal favorite? Why?

My first scene in "SCOOP" holds a special place in my heart. Interestingly, it was also my audition scene, which made it even more memorable. This part was completely different from anything I had played or looked like before, presenting a unique challenge and opportunity for me as an actor. Stepping into this new and unfamiliar role allowed me to explore new facets of my craft and push my boundaries. The experience of transforming into a character so distinct from my previous work was both exhilarating and rewarding. It’s definitely a special moment in my career, one that stands out for its novelty and the growth it spurred in me as an actor.

5. What advice would you give to aspiring actors who are just starting their journey in the industry?

To succeed in the acting industry, you need to have a thick skin and be willing to learn constantly. More than your looks, what truly matters is your craft—your ability to bring characters to life with authenticity and skill. It's essential to focus on honing your acting abilities and continuously improving your performance. Moreover, it's wise to have a backup plan for your survival, especially since the industry can be very volatile, particularly for outsiders. This means having alternative sources of income or other career options to fall back on during challenging times. The path to success in acting is often unpredictable, so being prepared and resilient can make a significant difference in navigating the ups and downs of the profession.

6. If you could swap lives with a fictional character for a day, who would it be?

There are many favorite characters I've played, but at this moment, Alle from "Notebook" stands out. This character is special to me because they don't make romantic films like that anymore, do they? The timeless charm, the depth of emotion, and the nuanced storytelling in "Notebook" make it a standout in the romantic genre. Playing Alle allowed me to immerse myself in a beautifully crafted love story that resonates with audiences on a profound level. It's a role that captures the essence of classic romance, something that is increasingly rare in contemporary filmmaking.
