Tanya Desai - The Actress From The Upcoming Shringarika (Bollywood/Tollywood Actress)

"I knew I wanted to be an actor the day I stepped into Shiela Movie Hall as a child. Mumbai welcomed me with open arms, and now, it’s home."

1. What inspired you to pursue a career in the entertainment industry?

My passion for acting ignited when I was just 7 years old during a visit to Shiela Movie Hall in Delhi. The larger-than-life characters on the screen mesmerized me, and from that moment, I knew I wanted to be an actor. Leaving the comfort of my family in Ghaziabad and moving to a new city like Mumbai was daunting, but as the saying goes, "You pray for rain, you gotta deal with the mud too." Mumbai, the city of dreams, welcomed me with open arms. I've been fortunate to meet good people along the way, and now, this city feels like home.

2. Out of your roles in “Crackdown,” “Street Light,” and “Godman,” which was the most challenging, and why?

Each of these roles presented its own unique challenges, as they were all so different from one another. The excitement of bringing such diverse characters to life pushed me to grow as an actor. Every character I’ve played has helped me refine my craft and become a better actor.

3. How has your background in dance influenced your acting career?

Dance is my passion; it grounds me and brings me peace. Whether in front of a camera or in front of the mirror, dancing always feels like my own special space. My dance skills actually helped me get cast in a few shows, and it continues to help me express my emotions more gracefully on screen. Dancing allows me to connect with my characters on a deeper level, translating that fluidity and expression into my acting.

4. You’re known for your fitness. Can you share some tips or routines that help you stay in shape?

I’m fortunate to have an incredible trainer, Ketan, who pushes me to my limits—and I love every bit of the sweat and pain that comes with it. My day starts with a slow morning routine: a glass of lukewarm water mixed with ajwa seeds powder, kalonji powder, fig seeds powder, and a spoonful of honey, which keeps me energized. I practice yoga and pilates whenever possible, and hitting the gym is a must. Most importantly, I keep myself happy and positive—that’s the real secret to my energy and fitness.

5. Who are some individuals in the entertainment industry that you look up to, and why?

Apoorva Lakhia, or Apu Sir as I call him, has been a tremendous support system for me. His guidance has always steered me in the right direction, and I’m grateful for his influence in my life.

6. Can you give us a sneak peek into any upcoming projects you’re excited about?

I’m thrilled about an upcoming web show I shot last year, which is set to release soon, either in September or November. It’s a period drama, and I’m playing a role that’s completely new to me. I’m really excited for everyone to see it—it’s going to be amazing.

7. If you could star in a movie with any actor, past or present, who would it be and why?

I would love to play Kajol’s role in "Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge." I think it would be historic! 😉
