Sanya Thakur - I Want To Work with Shah Rukh Khan Someday (Bollywood Actress From Super30)

"Acting is my job, but writing is my soul—both help me express the emotions that shape my world."

1. Can you introduce yourself and share what inspired you to pursue a career in acting and writing?

I’ve always loved being in front of the camera. My passion for performing began with theatre, where I enjoyed the immediate reaction from the audience. After I worked as a kid in Super 30, I was blown away by the experience on set. That's when I knew I wanted to pursue films. Writing, on the other hand, is my soul—it comes from within. Whether it’s happiness, sadness, or pain, writing allows me to express my emotions and experiences. It’s like a gateway for me, and I love it.

2. How do you approach the process of developing a character for your roles?

The first thing I do is understand where the character comes from. I often watch videos of random people or talk to those who are from a similar background to understand their behavior, tone, and culture. This helps me portray them authentically. Once I get a sense of how they would speak and act, I feel more confident bringing the character to life.

3. What has been the most challenging project you've worked on, and how did you overcome those challenges?

My most challenging project was my first lead role in the Telugu film Spy. I didn’t know the language at all, but the director wanted me to speak in Telugu. So, I memorized the lines and delivered them, even though it was difficult. Despite the challenge, I enjoyed the process and have since learned a bit of Telugu!

4. How do you balance your time between acting and writing, and do you find that one influences the other?

Acting is my job, but writing comes from my soul. Writing helps me understand emotions better, which definitely enhances my acting. I don’t find balancing the two difficult because I can write anywhere, at any time. They complement each other rather than clash.

5. Can you share a memorable experience from your career that has had a significant impact on you?

I’ve done a lot of ads, but one that stands out is for Revlon. When I was 12 or 13, I desperately wanted to dye my hair after seeing a Revlon ad, but my mom said no. I was heartbroken! Fast forward to the present, and I ended up as the cover girl for Revlon in one of their ads. It felt surreal to achieve something I’d dreamt about as a child. I’m looking forward to having another full-circle moment like this one, maybe when I work with Shah Rukh Khan someday!

6. What advice would you give to aspiring actors and writers who are just starting out?

For actors, I’d say practice performing in front of live audiences. It gives you courage and helps you understand your craft better. For writers, don’t overthink—just write. Whatever comes to your mind, put it on paper. Let your creativity flow and you’ll find yourself creating new worlds.

7. What’s one fun fact about you that your followers might not know?

I love cooking, pampering my loved ones, and of course, eating samosas with ginger tea!
