Nikita Porwal - This Crown Chose Me (Miss India 2024)

"I believe at that time of weakness one should take a look at those who are closest to you and realize why you are really doing this."

Q. How are you feeling after winning the title of Miss India?

This crown of the Femina Miss India is not just my dream but a consequence of me and my parents' hard work. It would not be right to say that one can simply dream one day and the next day it will be yours. I have dedicated a lot of blood, sweat and tears to this goal. I would like to say that if you dream something, there must be some logic what is standing between you and the end result. In case for me, it was that I'm from Ujjain and no one around me was really into Miss India. I did not get the guidance I wanted. But once you get determined to do something, you get it. Pathways are already created for the same.

Q. Did you always want to become Miss India?

I got the idea of Miss India very early. My mom used to send me out as Miss India in Fancy dress competitions. Although at that time I did not know the importance of being someone with such a grand title. I only knew that I liked the stage a lot. I like walking with a crown. I like speaking to crowds. Through this journey, I got the value and responsibility of being a Miss India.

Q. What did you do before you became Miss India?

I have been doing theater for almost 7 years. Around this time, I realized I am a great storyteller. I thought lets just tell an Indian Story instead of a Shakespearean one. I did marathi plays, mythological plays, and directed a few of them. I have done around 60 plays throughout my career. Sometimes as primary characters or as chores.

Q. How hard was the journey from being a girl from Madhya Pradesh, to winning a prestigious award such as this?

Frankly, once I became Miss Madhya Pradesh it was a smooth journey. My first audition was in Delhi, and I never thought I would actually win the title. I was always afraid of fading the glamor of the crowd. But once I gave the audition, I don't really know what stars aligned but I did become Miss Madhya Pradesh. I had a feeling that I would already win the title of the state. Once I did become Miss Madhya Pradesh I realized that from the 30 states, all the contestants were off the charts intelligent and beautiful. Everyone's journey was really inspiring. Everyone had the same dream. That is why I had a few doubts.

Q. How did you deal with the challenges set throughout the contest?

There were some weak moments. I believe at that time of weakness one should take a look at those who are closest to you and realize why you are really doing this. I used to call my Mom a lot. She used to calm down that if nothing happens, experience will. So, whatever you do, give your best.

Q. What was your question and answer for the final round ?

I was asked a lot of questions during the pageant. At the time of the Finale, we are just asked one question. A lot of people try to presume the questions first but only the tough one comes up at the last. I feel that when you are not prepared for something, I don't even know when you surprise yourself. You can watch the Miss India Telecast to see the questions and my answers to them.

Q. What is next for Miss India?

First of all, I am really happy that this crown chose me. I am a part of a legacy now. I am absolutely honored by the title. I am really thankful to the Miss India pageant. It was a great opportunity for not just me but everyone who was a part of it. It was an experience of a lifetime. This crown is heavy with responsibilities. I represent India now and I feel that I can empower people from an International stage. I definitely can't wait for the Miss World to start but firstly I believe that this success is nightly. I came from a really small city and now I am known in the entire country. I am getting constant support and I hope I can prove to be the same throughout what is coming. I am really excited to be a part of this journey while I hope I stay connected to my roots.

Q. Would you still like to perform and did you primarily do the pageant for more roles?

Definitely, I still want to perform. My passion is not the crown, the crown is just a tool to help in the process. My passion stands in making a change in the world and creating an impact, a shadow for the greater good.

Q. Did Ujjain play a significant role in your journey?

I believe Ujjain's crowd is developing. My journey as an actor started with Kalidas Ragnmanch. It has made me and it's my duty to give back to it. I would be wrong if I say Ujjain does not give me heaps of opportunities. You just need to grab them at the right time.

Q. What would you like to tell our readers?

I would like to thank everyone for their support and I expect the same support throughout this journey. I would compel every girl out there who believes that she dreams too big to not give up on them. Work on them and believe in the higher power and it shall be given to you. Thank you so much!
