Sadly, he passed away on December 26, 2024, at the age of 92. Let's dive into his incredible story and discover why he remains an icon of intellect, integrity, and leadership.

Growing Up - Not Your Average Childhood

Just picture the thought of a kid whose origin village is so small it's nowhere to be located on a map. This is the visualization of Dr. Singh's existence that is back in1932. His birthplace, Gah town is now part of Pakistan, which did not have running water or electric power.

Nevertheless, our little Manmohan is like a mini book of knowledge! He used to study in such a way that he was awarded a large university scholarship. God, I can't help but admire his high-aiming spirit!

The scenario in which a young guy sitting in a poorly-lit room holding a kerosene lamp whose nose is interred in books and selling a dream of changing the world is me! Not just one, but Manmohan acquired a couple of degrees.

That's what I call striving for the highest like my family said- aim for the stars and you'll reach the moon.

Architect of Modern India's Economy

Time shift to 1991. India was talking about financial problems, which means it still had no money. It was so severe that the country even considered selling all its gold in order to generate money to pay its bills.

Horrible! But then there comes the new Finance Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh. He just walked into his first meeting and started with a Victor Hugo quote explaining how an idea can't be destroyed. Then, in a minute, he made a series of creative and large-scale changes.

He kicked away the old, exasperating rules that restricted businesses in India to invest. He allowed foreign companies to better invest in India. It was as if the whole economy of India had been given an energy drink.

Suddenly, companies were blossoming, more people were working, and India was indeed very important on the stage of world affairs. Dr. Singh is generally mentioned as India's "Father of Economic Reforms". Proud to get this positive nickname, isn't it?

The Accidental Prime Minister

In 2004, an unlikely event took place. Dr. Singh's party triumphed in the elections, and guess who was the prime minister? Exactly, our super-clever financial expert! This action was the first thing that made him the first Indian Sikh Prime Minister in the world, the accidental Prime Minister

Your Freedom Struggle is not confined to fiscal discipline. You care about giving normal people a change too. He initialized the programmatic employment of rural areas and also came up with ways to make citizens deal with the government in the simplest ways. Like a voice the people have the power!

The story that had the biggest influence? He entered into an agreement with America on nuclear energy. It was not easy - many people objected to it. However, he was resolute, cool as a cucumber, and accomplished his goal.

The Man Beyond Politics

Probably, most of us would think that a man who has managed to grow the whole economy of his native country wouldn't be sticking to the traditional way of investing in the stock market, right?

No, indeed! Dr. Manmohan Singh is a man of simple tastes. He liked only a few things like stocks, and post offices schemes. He never played Russian roulette with his savings!&

At the house, he was only a normal dad. In multifamily stories, the truth says that he couldn't even get an egg boiled or operate the television set! Nevertheless, he was brilliant and friendly, somebody whom you'd find super interesting when having a long talk.

Challenges and Criticisms

Nonetheless, being a leader isn't a walk in the park, and Dr. Singh had his peaks and valleys too. During his second term as PM, his administration was filled with big scandals. Some people said he was too silent and ineffective in halting the abuses to the main political institutions.

No matter what, Dr. Manmohan Singh was not the panicking type. He once expressed that it is best to be silent if you don't have anything meaningful to say instead of saying nonsensical things. He was always there, even though matters got complicated, and no one ever doubted than he didn't truly care about India.

A Life That Inspires

His story is sort of a masterclass of the kind of hard work and endurance that have to be given out to reach one's dreams. He demonstrated that one does not need to be the loudest person to contribute greatly.

After his political withdrawal, he remained on the horizon, giving his insight, like he did during the Covid-19 period.

Final Thoughts

This is the incredible journey of Dr. Manmohan Singh! From the village to the man who shifted India's progress in a very different direction. His life is the best example of a person who actually does wonders with his brain, hard work, and truthfulness.
