“Content creation is a long road, but with the right mindset, it’s a fulfilling and transformative experience.”
Q. Aakash, you've had an incredible journey as a content creator, overcoming setbacks and achieving remarkable success. What drives your passion for creating meaningful content and how did your journey start?
I started my YouTube journey in 2021 during the lockdown, not knowing that it was even possible to earn from YouTube. At first, I mistakenly believed that starting a channel required a payment, which I now find amusing. My first channel was called Akash Krishna TV, and my very first video was about “How to Overcome Exam Fear.”
I still remember how a few of my friends and neighbors watched it, and it gained around 25 views in three days. Seeing my face on the screen for the first time was an overwhelming experience.
As I consumed more content on YouTube, I became curious about video editing and started experimenting with basic editing on my mom’s phone, which had 64 GB of storage—a big deal for me at the time. Slowly, I discovered the vast potential of editing and content creation. My curiosity turned into a passion as I learned not just editing but also aspects of design and implementation in videos.
One of my biggest inspirations has been MrWhosetheboss, whose editing skills and content creation approach left a strong impression on me. It became my dream to reach a similar level of proficiency in editing. In my first year, I posted over 80 long-form videos on YouTube. Despite my efforts, I had only 271 subscribers, and to make matters worse, my channel was hacked within that same year.
Looking back, my early days were full of random, experimental, and admittedly cringe-worthy content. However, those experiences taught me invaluable lessons. The spark that started my journey was my desire to see myself as a content creator who provides quality, feel-good, and motivational content. This passion continues to drive me as I work towards creating meaningful content that educates and inspires.
Q. Your current channel, Mr. Factman Tamil, has gained significant traction. What's the secret to its success, and how do you come up with ideas for your content?
When my first channel, Aakash Krishna TV, was hacked, I didn’t let it discourage me. On the same day, I created a new channel—MrFactManTamil. Initially, I experimented with a variety of content. My experiences during public exams in school inspired many of my videos. I realized that you don’t need to be an expert to create content; you just need to share your experiences and help others avoid the mistakes you made.
For instance, I struggled with mathematics and often scored low marks. I researched solutions, applied them, and shared tips like “common mistakes to avoid in math” and “best practices before exams.” These videos resonated with students and gave me clarity on the type of value-driven content I wanted to produce.
When YouTube Shorts started gaining popularity, I explored its potential by launching a separate channel, MrFactManTamil Shorts. One of my videos there hit 1 million views within weeks, which was a breakthrough moment. I continued posting similar content, and the channel quickly grew to 50,000 subscribers within two months. To drive this audience to my main channel, MrFactManTamil, I posted a long-format video with exam tips, which helped me gain 10,000 subscribers.
As my journey progressed, I improved my editing skills, transitioning from editing on a tablet to a laptop once I started college. While I’m still experimenting and learning, I’ve realized that success on YouTube requires a combination of volume, consistency, and timing. Fancy editing alone cannot make a video succeed if the core content lacks quality. Editing should complement and elevate the story, not distract from it.
In essence, the key to my channel’s success has been providing the right content to the right audience at the right time, combined with consistent effort and a willingness to learn from my mistakes. Though I have not yet reached a “pro” level, I remain committed to growing and improving as a content creator.
Q. As a solo content creator and engineering student, how do you manage your time and prioritize tasks to balance content creation, studying, and other responsibilities?
Managing content as a solo creator is incredibly challenging, but I’ve learned to adapt over time. Let me start with my Instagram journey, as it’s where most people recognize me today.
On Instagram, I experimented extensively with content. Initially, I posted more than 60 videos that didn’t perform well. But I stayed consistent, and the breakthrough came in December 2024, when I posted a reel about the importance of skills in resumes. That video gained 1 lakh views, and another similar reel reached 30,000 views.
The real turning point was when I began experimenting with quotes. These quotes resonated deeply with people, leading to shares on their stories. One video reached 7 million views in just two days, another hit 2 million in two days, and a third gained 1 million views in one day.
This rapid success helped my Instagram account grow from 0 to 25,000 followers in three years, with a remarkable spike of 25,000 followers and 13 million views in just one week. The secret to my Instagram growth was consistent posting during a period when I had time off. I’m now working on finding a sustainable posting schedule even during my busy study times.
For YouTube, the journey was quite different. Afer my first channel, Akash Krishna TV, got hacked, I started MrFactManTamil. Initially, my editing skills were very basic—I would just add text and post videos. During my school days, creating content felt simpler. But as I entered college and started leveling up my ideas and editing style, I faced challenges.
When MrFactManTamil was also hacked, it was a huge setback. I had to take time to recover, but I decided to focus on my main channel. Balancing quality and consistency has been a constant struggle. Editing takes a lot of time, and as a solo creator, I also handle scripting, filming, exporting, optimizing keywords, creating thumbnails, and promoting my videos—all on my own.
Due to academic pressures, I had to take a break from YouTube for almost a year, which was a down phase for my channel. However, I’ve started to find a balance. I now focus on content that excites me and keeps me motivated, like creating unique thumbnails, which adds a sense of hype and enthusiasm to my process.
Content ideas often come from a mix of inspiration and experimentation. Sometimes I watch other videos and take inspiration, and other times I test my original concepts. Some videos perform well, while others don’t, but I’ve learned to keep pushing.
Ultimately, my growth on both platforms comes down to persistence, experimentation, and a willingness to learn from setbacks. While I’m not yet a professional, I strive to create content that makes people feel good, entertained, and motivated.
Q. As a tech enthusiast, what emerging trends or innovations are you most excited about, and how do you think they'll impact our daily lives?
As a tech enthusiast, I’m truly fascinated by the rapid advancements in AI and how seamlessly it is integrating into our daily routines. I’ve already started incorporating AI into various aspects of my life, including college tasks and content creation, even for the smallest details. It’s amazing how much time AI saves and how efficiently it can enhance productivity.
One of the things I’m most passionate about is the intersection of education and technology. I strongly believe that when these two fields integrate, they can deliver exceptional results, irrespective of the domain.
When it comes to emerging trends, I’m particularly excited about AI’s potential in video editing. The idea of creating customized B-rolls, animations, and effects with just a prompt is mind-blowing.
I know some of these technologies are already in beta stages, and I can’t wait for them to reach a level of proficiency where they become an everyday tool for editors. This innovation could revolutionize how content creators engage their audiences, allowing for more creative and personalized video experiences.
On the hardware side, I’m a huge Apple fan, especially for its camera and software experience.
People often ask if I shoot my videos on a DSLR, but it’s just my iPhone paired with some thoughtful color grading. The quality is so impressive that it consistently delivers a DSLR-like look. My iPhone has been a pivotal tool in my content creation journey, offering exceptional results in a compact and versatile package.
Q. You've shared valuable exam tips and advice for students. What do you think are the most common challenges students face, and how can they overcome them?
The exam tips I share aren’t presented as advice, but more as experiences I’ve gone through myself. I approach it like a friend sharing lessons learned—what worked for me and what didn’t—so others might try and see if it helps them too.
The most significant challenge I think students face today is overthinking and being overly immersed in social media. The constant consumption of short-form content has drastically reduced attention spans.
In the past, watching a 10-minute video was manageable, but now, within just one minute, students are exposed to multiple different genres of content. This creates a habit of doom scrolling, which lowers focus and consistency, particularly during study sessions.
Another major issue is the overuse of phones while studying, leading to distractions and reduced performance in exams. It’s something I’ve struggled with personally, and while I’ve managed to cut down on it to an extent, it’s still a challenge I continue to work on.
To overcome this, I believe students should start by limiting their screen time and consciously taking breaks from their devices. Going outside, engaging with nature, or simply spending time away from screens can help reset focus and reduce distractions.
Another serious problem is the exposure to inappropriate content online. It’s crucial for students to work on desexualizing their minds to stay focused on their goals. This kind of discipline can make a significant difference in maintaining clarity and commitment to their aspirations.
Q. You have mentioned facing challenges in your content creation journey. Can you share a major setback and how you overcame it?
One of the biggest setbacks in my journey as a creator was losing access to my channel, Mr. FactMan Tamil Shorts, due to a technical glitch. It happened because of a bug in my tablet, which led me to reformat the device and all my accounts. I assumed I could recover the channel using the “forgot password” option, but that’s where things went wrong. The channel was linked to only one email ID and device.
When I tried recovery, the code was sent to the very same email I was locked out of. Since the tablet was formatted, I couldn’t access the trusted device options either. Despite contacting YouTube support, I couldn’t resolve the issue. So ill be really greatful if some one in the field of expertise could help me recovering Mr factmantamil shorts with over 60k subs and im ready to pay too..
To make it worse, this channel had grown significantly without any new content, surpassing 60,000 subscribers. It’s heartbreaking to see the channel I worked so hard on but cannot access. However, I realized I couldn’t dwell on the loss forever. Instead, I shifted my focus to my main channel, Mr. FactMan Tamil, which at that time had about 5,000–7,000 subscribers.
I told myself that even this number was a dream for many creators and decided to rebuild from there. I prioritized creating new content, learning from the experience, and ensuring my accounts were more secure going forward.
Over time, I also grew my Instagram presence, which became a significant platform for me. People started recognizing me for my quote reels and other creative content. Although I don’t want to be seen solely as someone who shares quotes, I’m grateful for the exposure and connection it has brought. This experience taught me resilience and the importance of moving forward. While I’m still looking for experts who can help me recover that channel, my focus remains on creating diverse and engaging content for the platforms I do have access to.
Q. Imagine that you could collaborate with any fictional character, historical figure, or mythical creature on a content project. Who would you choose, and what kind of content would you create?
If I had the chance, I would definitely collaborate with Iron Man from Marvel movies. His genius in technology, sharp business acumen, and unparalleled confidence make him an ideal partner. Collaborating with him would be a game-changer for me as a content creator.
I would create content centered around futuristic tech innovations, business strategies, and the mindset needed to thrive in a competitive world. Imagine a series where Iron Man shares insights on how to integrate AI into daily life, build sustainable tech, or even design superhero-level gadgets. Not only would this boost my channel’s views, but it would also establish my content as one of the most innovative and valuable resources in the tech space.
Iron Man’s charisma and expertise would inspire audiences to think bigger, work smarter, and embrace technology to create the future. Collaborating with him would be a dream come true, allowing me to push the boundaries of content creation and leave a legacy in the tech world.
Q. What advice would you give to aspiring content creators who are just starting out, and what's the most important lesson you've learned throughout your journey?
The most important lesson I’ve learned as a content creator is to never give up. Consistency is everything, and a single video can truly change the entire game.
For example, one of my Instagram reels recently reached 7 million views in just 2 days, which contributed to a staggering 13 million views in a week. That experience was mind-blowing and reinforced my belief that persistence pays off.
For aspiring creators, my advice is to experiment with different types of content within your niche. When something clicks with your audience, double down on that format while still keeping space to explore. For instance, while my quote-based reels have gained millions of views and brought significant recognition, I don’t want people to only know me as “the person who posts quotes.” My goal is to evolve beyond that and establish myself as a creator who brings a wide range of valuable and thought-provoking content to my audience.
Currently, I’m working on a series based on “48 Laws of Power,” where I’m creating 48 reels—one for each law. I’ve also experimented with videos discussing how to prepare for interviews and internships. These types of content reflect my passion for educating and helping others while stepping outside my comfort zone.
To all new creators-
1. Start small and focus on value. Don’t let the lack of high-end equipment hold you back. Content quality and value are far more important than the tools you use.
2. Consistency is key. Keep posting regularly, and don’t be discouraged by low views in the beginning.
3. Don’t take opinions too seriously. Accept constructive criticism, but don’t let negative comments derail your journey.
4. Focus on content, not money. Content creation is about exploring your passion and connecting with your audience. If you prioritize value, financial success will naturally follow. This journey is a learning process.
I’m not a pro, but I’m grateful for every milestone, big or small. With consistency, experimentation, and audience support, I’m confident everything will align by God’s grace. Content creation is a long road, but with the right mindset, it’s a fulfilling and transformative experience.
