Anushka Joshi - Having a Public Profile Means People Will Always Have Opinions (204K Followers)

"Growing up, I never saw pear-shaped bodies represented in fashion or body positivity discussions—so I created the space I wish I had."

1. What inspired you to start your journey as a digital creator?

I realized that while many influencers promote body positivity for mid-size and plus-size individuals, there wasn’t much content specifically for pear-shaped bodies. I wanted to bridge that gap by offering styling tips and addressing the unique insecurities that come with this body type—like cellulite or fat distribution around the hips and thighs. If my platform can help even one girl feel more confident in her skin and embrace her style without hesitation, that’s a win for me.

2. Why did you choose to focus on body positivity, particularly for curvy women?

Growing up, I rarely saw representation of pear-shaped bodies in fashion or body positivity discussions. While the conversation around self-love was growing, no one specifically addressed the challenges of dressing and feeling confident with a pear shape. I wanted to create a space where girls like me could find relatable content, styling inspiration, and a community that makes them feel seen and celebrated.

3. What are some common challenges people face in embracing body positivity?

One of the biggest challenges is unlearning societal beauty standards. We are constantly bombarded with images of an “ideal” body type, making it hard to embrace our natural shape. Another challenge is dealing with personal insecurities—whether it’s cellulite, hip dips, or how clothes fit differently on various body types. It takes time and conscious effort to shift our mindset and appreciate our bodies for what they are, rather than what they are not.

4. How do you ensure your content remains authentic yet relatable?

I stay updated on fashion trends and experiment with my personal style to keep my content fresh and relevant. But more importantly, my posts come from real experiences—things I’ve personally felt, struggled with, or learned over time. I believe that’s what makes it relatable. If I’ve gone through something, chances are many others have too.

5. What role do digital creators play in shaping body image narratives?

Digital creators hold immense influence because people look up to them and often compare themselves to the content they see online. That’s why I believe in showcasing both my highs and lows—whether it’s dressing up and feeling confident or dealing with insecurities. I want my audience to know they’re not alone and that every body is different and beautiful in its own way.

6. Has any follower’s feedback deeply impacted you?

I try not to let negative comments affect me because having a public profile means people will always have opinions. The best approach is to ignore the noise and stay focused on my purpose. But when my followers—my girlies—share their experiences, struggles, or even constructive feedback, I take it to heart. Their messages about how my content has helped them feel more confident are what truly keep me going.

7. What’s next for @embracepearbody_anushka?

Right now, I’m balancing my master’s studies and a part-time job in Germany, so I keep my content organic and stress-free. I don’t let algorithms dictate my creativity—I post when I feel inspired and enjoy the process. That said, I do have a goal of reaching 500K followers by the end of this year. Manifesting it!

8. If you could collaborate with anyone, who would it be and why?

I’d love to collaborate with thatbohogirl (Kritika Khurana)! I’ve followed her for years, and her journey has inspired me in so many ways. Her transformation, confidence, and the way she carries herself are incredibly motivating. A collaboration with her would be a dream come true.
