"When I first left Calcutta, I still felt like a kid. Now, after making it to Mumbai, I tell my parents I’ve learned how to ‘parent’ myself!"
1. From Calcutta to Bangalore to Mumbai—how has this journey shaped you?
Hahaha! Honestly, when I first left Calcutta, I still felt like a kid. Now, after making it to Mumbai, I often tell my parents that I’ve learned how to "parent" myself! It’s been an amazing and, at times, overwhelming journey, but the most valuable lesson has been discovering my most authentic self. Being alone teaches you a lot—what you truly desire in life, how far you’re willing to go to chase your dreams, and what truly matters to you.
2. What was the biggest challenge in transitioning from modeling to acting?
The mediums are completely different. Modeling relies on expressions and posing, whereas acting demands you to fully immerse yourself in emotions onscreen. On top of that, understanding the technical aspects of filmmaking was a whole new learning curve for me.
3. How does working in ads differ from feature films?
Ads are like movie trailers—you get in, get the job done quickly, and move on! They’re fun, entertaining, and less time-consuming. But feature films? That’s where the real ride begins! It’s a rollercoaster of emotions, a much deeper commitment both mentally and emotionally.
4. Any upcoming role or genre you’re most excited about?
I love portraying emotions onscreen. That’s something I always look forward to in every project. I just hope my audience connects with me more deeply in the near future!
5. Do you prefer OTT projects or the big-screen experience?
OTT is super convenient—you can watch from the comfort of your home, whenever you want. But, just like stepping out for dinner has its own charm, going to the movies is an experience in itself! The big screen, the immersive sound, and, of course, the big popcorn tub—that’s what dreams are made of for me!
6. What’s the one thing you miss most about Calcutta?
Without a doubt, my parents. Home will always be home. And apart from that—Bengali food! Nothing compares to the flavors of Calcutta.
7. If you had to pick a dream co-star, past or present, who would it be and why?
Kartik Aaryan, for sure! He’s a fantastic actor, but more importantly, I admire actors like him and Kriti Sanon, who have made it big despite not coming from a filmi background. I truly believe that circumstances don’t define us—our talent and hard work do. Seeing their journey inspires actors like me to keep pushing forward, to show up every day as a better version of ourselves. And trust me, that’s not as easy as it sounds! Hahaha!
