"Each platform has its own unique style of storytelling. While television allows for more in-depth character development over time, films require a more condensed and impactful performance."
Q. You’ve played impactful roles in popular TV shows like Swaragini, Bepannah, and Gupta Brothers. Which character has been the most special to you and why?
I’ve had the privilege of portraying many memorable characters throughout my career, but the one that holds a special place in my heart is Sharmistha from Swaragini. While I truly loved playing Mandira in Shiv Shakti and Ganga in Gupta Brothers, it’s Sharmistha that stands out for me. The character of Sharmistha had a lot of depth and range, and I felt a strong connection to her emotional journey. She was a complex character—soft yet strong, and her relationship with her family, especially with her daughters, resonated with me deeply. I enjoyed portraying the delicate balance between being a loving mother and dealing with life's challenges, and it’s a role I will always remember fondly.
Q. You’ve also featured in Bollywood films like Force, Chalo Dilli, and Kurbaan. How was the transition from television to films for you?
In my career, I’ve always tried to balance both television and film projects, so I wouldn’t say it was much of a transition—it was more of a natural progression. I’ve had the opportunity to work in TV and films simultaneously, which has been an incredible experience. Each platform has its own unique style of storytelling. While television allows for more in-depth character development over time, films require a more condensed and impactful performance. Whether it’s a television show or a film, I approach my work with the same passion and dedication, focusing on creating authentic characters. I’m grateful to have worked across both mediums and look forward to continuing to explore them.
Q. What inspired you to step into the beauty industry as a cosmetic formulator, and how did you develop expertise in this field?
I’ve always had a deep love for animals, and this concern led me to question the harmful ingredients in many cosmetic products. Specifically, I was concerned about the toxicity of cosmetic products, especially lip products, that could potentially harm not only humans but also animals due to testing. This concern fueled my passion to explore a healthier, cruelty-free, and more ethical alternative.
To make sure I understood the technical side of things, I decided to educate myself. I completed online courses in Cosmetic Formulations and Dermatology from Novosibirsk University, which gave me the knowledge needed to start creating my own products. My goal has always been to create cosmetics that are handmade, non-toxic, vegan, and cruelty-free. While I initially started creating these products for my friends and family, my brand Nyor has taken things further by partnering with manufacturers who produce my formulas in factories, ensuring the highest quality and standards. Unlike other brands that use private labeling, Nyor’s products are designed and created with a personalized approach to formulations. I’m proud of the brand and how it reflects my values of care and responsibility towards people, animals, and the environment.
Q. Among all the roles you’ve played, which one has been the most challenging, and how did you prepare for it?
The most challenging role for me has been Mandira from Shiv Shakti. This character had so many layers, and she was quite complex. Mandira had a dark side to her, which I needed to tap into, but at the same time, she was very grounded and emotionally connected to the people around her. As Shiv Shakti was a daily show, I didn’t have much time for preparation, and that made it even more difficult. However, I spent a lot of time understanding the character’s traits and mannerisms. I also worked closely with the director to make sure that every scene had the right impact and was true to the essence of the character. The role was demanding, but I enjoyed every bit of it because it allowed me to stretch my acting skills and get out of my comfort zone.
Q. What’s next for you? Are there any upcoming projects—whether in acting, music, or cosmetics—that your fans should be excited about?
I’ve been exploring new avenues recently, and I’m excited to share that I’ve recently sung and shot for a music video. It was an incredible experience, and the video will be releasing soon! We filmed the music video in Vrindavan, a place that holds a very special place in my heart. The spiritual and calming environment of Vrindavan added a magical touch to the video, and I can’t wait for everyone to see it.
Apart from that, I have several projects in the pipeline, including some exciting developments in the cosmetics space. But I prefer to keep things under wraps until they’re finalized. I love surprising my fans, and I’m sure they will be thrilled when everything is ready to be revealed. Stay tuned for some exciting things coming your way!
