Akash Choudhary– Winning Mr. India Gave Me a Massive Visibility Boost (Actor, 374K+ Followers)

“The biggest lesson? Reality shows aren’t all that ‘real.’ They’re about creating moments that get screen time.”

1. From winning Mr. India to modeling, acting, and now content creation, how has this evolution shaped your personal and professional journey?

Honestly, content creation was never part of my plan. But I’ve always been drawn to the idea of presenting myself on social media. I started in 2012, but winning Mr. India gave me a massive visibility boost. The modeling opportunities that followed helped me establish a presence, and that’s how my journey as an influencer began back in 2016—long before it became the booming industry it is today.

Acting, however, was always my ultimate goal. Like many artists, I aspired to the recognition that comes with it. I started auditioning, faced countless rejections, but finally landed my first project in 2018. This journey has shaped me in ways I never imagined—I’ve learned patience, resilience, and how to handle setbacks with grace. Every rejection became a lesson, and that mindset has brought me to where I am today.

Looking back, I feel nothing but pride. Coming from a middle-class background with no industry connections, every achievement feels hard-earned. The challenges I faced built my character and career, and I wouldn’t change a thing.

2. What inspired the shift from being in front of the camera as an actor to working behind the scenes as a content creator?

Life has a way of guiding you where you’re meant to be, and that’s exactly what happened. I was juggling both acting and content creation for a while, but over time, I realized I was thriving more as a creator. The opportunities were better, and frankly, the financial rewards were significantly higher.

Acting demands long, exhausting hours—14 to 15 hours a day, often with low pay and, at times, little respect. In contrast, as a content creator, I am my own brand. I control my schedule, have creative autonomy, and work on my own terms. That freedom was a game-changer.

Another major factor was stability. Acting is unpredictable, with long gaps between projects and little work-life balance. Content creation gave me the ability to grow holistically, both professionally and personally, which I believe is the true definition of success.

3. Reality shows like Splitsvilla often reveal different sides of personalities. What did you learn about yourself during that experience?

The biggest lesson? Reality shows aren’t all that “real.” They’re about creating moments that get screen time.

On a personal level, I discovered that I’m physically much stronger than I ever gave myself credit for. I also realized I have patience and resilience—qualities I never associated with myself before. I’ve always been a bit impulsive, but during the show, I saw a more composed side of myself emerge.

Another key takeaway was understanding how to present myself on national television. Reality shows are as much about perception as they are about performance, and that experience taught me a lot about self-awareness.

4. What’s one misconception about showbiz you’d like to break?

The biggest misconception is that networking at parties and social events will land you work. That’s far from reality.

People assume that rubbing shoulders with the right crowd is the key to success, but the truth is, nobody takes you seriously unless you bring talent and substance to the table. Your skill, discipline, and ability to stand out in your craft are what truly matter. The industry respects hard work over social appearances.

5. How do you stay motivated and creative in a constantly evolving entertainment field?

For me, it’s simple—I don’t see this as a race. My only competition is with myself. My goal is to stay fulfilled and happy with my journey.

Interestingly, despite my career revolving around social media, I personally consume very little of it. I find that stepping away from the noise keeps me focused and original. Constantly comparing yourself to trends can dilute your creative vision, so I prefer to channel my energy into refining my craft and ideas.

The entertainment industry evolves rapidly, but when you remain true to your niche and master your craft, nothing can shake you.

6. What advice would you give to aspiring models and actors?

It may sound cliché, but my biggest advice is to be yourself—authentically and unapologetically. You can put on a facade for the world, but you can’t lie to yourself. Staying real might not bring you instant fame, but it builds a sustainable career in the long run.

Also, remain humble and respectful. Learn from those who came before you instead of letting ego get in the way. Too many aspiring talents overlook the importance of learning from industry veterans, but respect and humility will take you further than arrogance ever could.

7. If you could star in the remake of any movie or show, which would it be and why?

I would love to play Rocky in Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani! His personality is so similar to mine—bold, loud, sometimes obnoxious (haha!), but with a good heart at the core.

More than that, I loved how the film tackled social taboos and stigmas in a lighthearted yet meaningful way. It wasn’t just entertainment—it had depth. That’s the kind of storytelling I’d love to be a part of.
