Pulkit Kumar - Follow Credible Creators, Question What You Hear, and Avoid Blindly Trusting Anyone (Health & Maxillofacial Expert, 236K+ Followers)

"Every single tooth matters—missing even one can lead to issues from bloating to diabetes."

1. Starting with your journey—how did a dentist end up becoming a nutritionist and health educator?

I started working out when I was 17, beginning with bodyweight exercises. Eventually, I bought a pair of dumbbells since I wasn’t allowed to go to the gym—funny how many parents still don’t allow their kids to join one, even though it's such a disciplined practice.

When I began my graduation, I joined the college gym and have been working out consistently ever since. Over the years, I noticed that many people—especially women—either don’t work out or are unaware of its importance. That’s what pushed me to start educating others about fitness and health.

Eventually, I realized that experience alone isn’t enough. I needed proper certifications to guide people more effectively. So, after completing my post-graduation in dentistry, I earned my nutritionist certification. Now, I’m practicing both clinically and as a certified nutritionist, helping people move toward a healthier lifestyle.

2. Working closely with oral cancer patients, how does nutrition impact their recovery and overall quality of life?

The right food and lifestyle choices are essential for recovery from any disease. I work with oral cancer patients who’ve lost significant parts of their jaw after surgery, and I also help rehabilitate them prosthetically. Along with that, I offer free diet advice to support their healing.

It’s not just about physical recovery—proper nutrition can also bring some much-needed positivity and support their mental health during such a difficult time.

3. Maxillofacial prosthodontics is a niche field. What’s one common misconception people have about it?

People often don’t realize how transformative this field can be. For instance, a non-functional eye can be replaced with a prosthetic one, often without surgery. If someone loses their nose or ear due to an accident, we can fix that prosthetically too. These changes do wonders for a person’s confidence.

Even missing teeth can lead to serious health issues—from digestive problems like bloating to long-term concerns like diabetes. Every single tooth matters more than people think.

4. You’re known for simplifying diet and fitness advice. What’s one wellness myth you’d love to bust for good?

The idea that “detox diets” cleanse your body is a huge myth. You don’t need fancy juices or cleanses. A balanced diet, waking up on time, and prioritizing quality sleep—these are more than enough to support your body’s natural detoxification process.

5. With so much information online, how can people identify which diet advice to trust?

Understand your own body—everyone is different. Don’t chase extreme methods to lose or gain weight. Avoid shortcuts and focus on what you can sustain over time.

Follow credible creators, question what you hear, and avoid blindly trusting anyone. And if you have a specific health goal, always seek personalized guidance from a certified expert.

6. As someone who bridges medical science and everyday wellness, how do you keep your content both accurate and relatable?

I read every day and do thorough research before sharing anything online. To keep my content relatable, I actively engage with my audience. I listen to their concerns and feedback, which helps me create content that’s both helpful and relevant to their needs.

7. What’s the most rewarding part of your work—clinical practice or content creation?

Content creation has become my new source of dopamine—I absolutely love it. What excites me the most is the variety. Every day brings new tasks and challenges. I’m someone who loves staying busy, and adding content creation to the mix keeps me energized and motivated.

8. What’s your go-to cheat meal that you’d never give up?

My wife is an amazing cook. In winter, she makes aloo parathas, and that’s one dish I never miss. It’s comfort food at its best.
